Adoptions have been slow for both our cats and dogs, so we’ve put together detailed profiles for each of our adoptable pets ranging from Tuesday, our longest resident, all the way to Biscuit and Muffin, our newest arrivals. You can stop by the shelter anytime during open hours to meet any of these fantastic babies in person! 🐾

Charlotte is a sweet, affectionate girl who is around 3 years old. She’s a purr machine who loves attention and will gently paw at you when she wants more pets. Head scritches are her absolute favorite, and she loves to lounge in her litter box. Charlotte previously lived with another cat and a small dog, so she may do well with other pets. She’s an all-around wonderful companion who is ready to find a loving home, so come meet her! ❤

For National Donut Day, we're celebrating one of the sweetest treats in the shelter: Skipper! This powdered donut of a dog is looking for a place to spend his golden years. ❤

🍩 25-pound neutered male
🍩 14-years-old but acts 5 years younger
🍩 Jack Russell / Beagle / Dachshund / Good Boy mix
🍩 House-trained and likes to get his business done quickly
🍩 Low-maintenance and generally low-energy, though he still gets the occasional burst of energy
🍩 Sweet, cuddly, and happiest when he's spending time with his people
🍩 Dog- and kid-friendly (he previously lived with a smaller female dog)
🍩 Would make a wonderful companion for just about anyone

*Cornbread has been adopted*

The bakery is temporarily open! Fresh out of the oven and ready for adoption is Muffin, Biscuit, and Cornbread! These three littermates are 15-week-old terrier mixes with adorable wiry coats and petite builds. They currently weigh around 10 pounds and are already spayed/neutered.

Like all puppies, they are sweet, affectionate, curious, playful... and completely unhinged. These little baked goods are not house-trained, leash-trained, or crate-trained. They are teething, and they have absolutely no idea what "no" means. We say this not to deter you, but to remind you that although puppies are cute, they are a handful!

If you're interested in adopting, applications must be completed in person at the shelter. We do not offer same-day adoptions, and submitting an application does not guarantee adoption. You do not need to call or make an appointment to meet them - just come in during opening hours!

All dogs and cats are required by law to have a current rabies vaccination. If your pet's vaccine has expired or is about to be, take advantage of this free rabies vaccination event hosted by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control!

Kittens, kitten, kittens! Come by the shelter Tues-Fri (11am-1pm or 3pm-5pm) or Sat (9am-12pm) to meet Mario and Luigi ✨

In the next 1-3 weeks, we will also have 3 Siamese-mix kittens and 3 small breed puppies available, so that may be a good time to visit 😉

If kittens and puppies are just too much to handle, we also have 2 small breed senior dogs, 1 adult male dog, 3 female adult cats, and 1 male adult cat currently available for adoption 🤯

Mr. Beaumont rarely gets seen by visitors because he has his own room in the back. He requested a room with a view, and we couldn't deny him. This handsome guy is only 2.5 years old and available!

He was being cared for as a stray before being brought to the shelter in October 2025. Beaumont is a quiet, independent gentleman who likes to take life at his own pace. He may need a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, he settles in beautifully and is clean, quiet, and fully litter trained.

He enjoys roaming, exploring, bird-watching from the window, and lounging in sunny spots (especially after a good meal!). Beaumont would do best in a calm, patient home that understands and respects his independent nature.

He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready for his new home. 🐾

UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!

Mr. Pickles hasn't had any visitors yet... how can that be?! He is:

🥒Sweet and shy Beagle at around 8.5 years old
🥒Neutered, vaccinated, and house trained
🥒Friendly to everyone and seems interested in other dogs
🥒Low maintenance and low energy

Mr. Pickles just wants a quiet home and a cozy lap to spend his golden years. And although he insisted it isn't important, we do have to mention that he is quite overweight will need to continue his weight loss journey when adopted.
