Benji is relaxing on his cot in the training room, practicing one of the most underrated skills a dog can learn: doing nothing.

A big part of training isn't just teaching commands—it's teaching dogs how to settle, relax, and be calm in different environments. Benji is learning that his cot is a place to unwind, observe, and stay comfortable while the world keeps moving around him.

For many dogs, this kind of calm behavior doesn't come naturally. It takes consistency, structure, and practice. We're proud of the progress Benji is making and excited to see what the rest of his program has in store!

Charlie is officially getting started on Week 1 of his 4-week off-leash training program! 🐾

This handsome boy is settling in, learning the routine, and building the foundation that will set him up for success over the next month. Off-leash freedom starts with solid obedience, clear communication, and plenty of practice, and Charlie is already hard at work.

The first week is all about establishing expectations, building engagement with his trainers, and introducing the skills he'll continue to develop throughout the program. We're excited to watch his confidence and reliability grow each day.

Everyone say hello to Luna Marie! 🐾💕

One of our tiniest trainees has officially arrived for her 2-week on-leash training program, and we couldn't be more excited to have her here. Just look at that adorable face! 🥰

While Luna Marie may be small in size, we're already looking forward to helping her make some big strides in confidence. Building confidence is such an important part of training, and we'll be working to help her feel more comfortable, capable, and successful as she learns new skills and experiences.

We can't wait to watch this sweet girl grow over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for her progress! ✨

Miss Tilly came to spend a couple of weekends with us for boarding, and we absolutely loved having her back! 🐾💕

One of the best parts of boarding familiar dogs is getting to see their personalities shine. Tilly settled right in, enjoyed her structured routine, and made herself at home with the JRK9 crew.

Whether it's training or boarding, we love building lasting relationships with our dogs and their families. Seeing familiar faces come back through our doors is always a highlight of what we do!

Chai may honestly be one of the squishiest little dogs we’ve ever had around here. Wrinkly, cuddly, and fully aware that everybody melts the second they see him.

Underneath all that cuteness though, he’s learned that structure still applies — even when you look like a tiny baked potato with legs. Balance is important.

Safe to say this guy has become a staff favorite.

Charlie has officially arrived and is already keeping us on our toes in the best way.

Smart dogs like this tend to learn quickly, but learning how to slow down, stay accountable, and work through structure is just as important as learning commands. Clarity and consistency go a long way with dogs that are always thinking and moving.

A big part of training isn’t always movement — sometimes it’s learning how to simply exist calmly around activity.

During group sessions, we’ll often have dogs practicing “place” on their individual cots while another dog works one-on-one with a trainer. While they wait their turn, they’re learning patience, neutrality, impulse control, and how to observe without needing to be involved in everything around them.

That calm observation work carries over into real life more than people realize. Dogs that can settle, think clearly, and stay accountable in stimulating environments tend to handle the world a whole lot better.

Truman just arrived and is settling into the routine well already.

The first couple days are all about settling in and slowing things down, establishing structure, and helping dogs understand the expectations clearly before we start asking for more freedom and responsibility. Calm starts with clarity.

There’s something so rewarding about seeing these dogs learn, grow, and settle into a calm state of mind. Eli has been doing an awesome job in his program, and moments like this are a reminder that confidence and structure create a dog that can truly relax and enjoy the world around them.
