Our hearts are with the good people of Motherlode Feral Cat Alliance today as their friend and founder Lorrie Morris left this world this morning. We are grieving along with much of the animal community.

Please help her husband Dean if you’re able. He’s been by her side working with and for animals for years.

Back to regular scheduled programming next week. We just wanted to take a pause for our dear friends. ❤️❤️

The MotherLode is a tight-knit community. ❤️ Today, a long-time staple in the animal welfare community needs help. If you’ve been in the area for any amount of time and had any occasion to work with animals, you probably know Lorrie and Dean Morris.

Lorrie and Dean were crucial in the set-up of our very own Calaveras Humane Society. Dean built the shelter you see in Angel’s Camp on 49 with his own hands. Lorrie also formed Motherlode Feral Cat Alliance, the first organization of its kind created for the TNR efforts of feral cats. To date, thousands of feral cats and countless colonies have been TNR’ed, guaranteeing they’ll never reproduce. This couple is also heavy supporters of Performing Animal Welfare Society - PAWS in San Andreas. There’s a tiger named after them, and Dean even built bear and other animal enclosures for them.

Lorrie’s battle with cancer is almost over 💔 and help is needed. Please donate if you’re so inclined. ❤️

The first question everyone asks is about our rates.

It's difficult to offer an exact price, because we try to flex to the needs of the dog parent and the dog, and each situation is different. But we can offer you our starting points for new clients. 😊

Multiple dogs, extended stays, medically necessary stays, and "frequent flyers" get discounted rates.

When you're choosing a place to leave your pets, make sure you ask for more than their rates. Ask if your animal will have 24/7 human companionship. Ask if they'll be in a cage. Ask if they charge extra for snuggles and interaction. Ask how they'll be living day to day. All of those things matter
