Seeing more coyotes in October? There’s a reason.
Fall is when many young coyotes begin leaving their family groups and searching for territory of their own. Some can travel dozens of miles, passing through parks, suburbs and unfamiliar backyards along the way.
That means a coyote you see this month may simply be passing through.
🌙 Keep wildlife wild:
• Never feed coyotes
• Secure garbage and pet food
• Keep cats indoors and small dogs close
• If a coyote approaches, make yourself loud and large—clap, yell and wave your arms (honk horn if you're in the car)
• Report sick or unusually bold coyotes to local wildlife officials and, animal services
A wary coyote is safer for itself and for your neighborhood.
October isn't necessarily bringing more coyotes into your world.
You're simply seeing more of their fall journey.

**Fun fact- Coyotes help with rodent control. Who doesn't love FREE rodent control?!**

We wanted to wait for a post but just thought this didn't deserve to wait.

This morning, around 7AM, Coppell PD Officers Benson and Evans showed their heart by helping rescue a trapped kitten from a local employees vehicle. The kitten had ridden in from Arlington and was in a lot of distress. Lucky for the caller and the kitten, even when Animal Services isn't open, our Police Officers are more than happy to lend a hand to any living thing in need.

The little kitten, who we named "Benson" looks a little rough but is doing well and was a lucky little guy. He didn't sustain any injuries. He still needs to gain some weight during his hold period and get basic vetting so, keep a look out for him to be available for adoption in the coming weeks.

This little guy is still waiting on his forever home.❤
