Closing out a great ride season on Far Field Serena for the Red Rock Rumble 50 🐎 perfect weather and a great trail. Goals accomplished this year have been unfurling this fancy grey and I’m happy to report we spent most of our trek on a draped rein and finished with a 48/48 CRI. And if you see this (my tagging thing isn’t working), thank you Alex for letting me be your couch potato 💕😝 adventures are best spent shared!

Check out this fancy mare! If you are looking for a great size, confident demeanor, and expressive movement, check out Dani! She has a lot of ground work under her belt, haul out time and exposure to stimuli. She has been brought along thoughtfully and slowly.
Dani has been at the Stone House ranch since mid August and is working on formal arena work, responsiveness to the aids, and working over her back with balance. She has a smooth trot and uphill canter with great hock action. Dani loves learning new things and working. She has had a good amount of under saddle time and work in training/lesson settings and is very comfortable as a riding horse. Since most of her focus was on basic skills and trail riding/horsemanship, she would be considered green to formal arena work. Dani has an ambitious appetite for learning and is really embracing the new skills she is learning.
For those looking for a horse of a lifetime, she really has what it takes. She is developing a forward, swinging walk, a smooth adjustable trot, and she LOVES to canter! She embodies the qualities of why people love these Iberian types, crossed with the grounded personality of the Quarter Horse. Dani is very comfortable with obstacle work, including teeter bridges and canvas mattresses and is not spooky and enjoys the stimulation. An added bonus is her kind, sweet nature and desire for human attention.
Dani was originally being programed to be a ladies trail horse, however, Dani is seeking more of a challenge than just cruising in open spaces. She would be a great option as a bold working equitation or dressage horse. She doesn't mind riding in the outdoors, but would like her main dish to be maneuvers and athletic endeavors with trail as a side dish.
Dani has been owned by her current owner since 2021 and has been well loved and cared for. If you are looking for a head turner to get you noticed, she is a really great option. Not hormonal, good in a stall, happy in the pasture, current on vet care, very sound, barefoot, clean legged and with a known solid history, not a horse that's been passed around. Her friendly nature and willingness to please on the ground and under saddle will be sure to make you fall in love.

It's official! I am joining the Garden Valley Grange to co-lead the Horse Project. Space is very limited, but there is room for horse lovers 9+ to join the Grange Horse group. Comprehensive horse knowledge will be covered with a goal of getting to show in 2027. Let me know if you have questions or are interested in joining.

"Red" is that go to guy that you want in the barn. He's simple, he's uncomplicated, he's no drama. He's proven himself the last three years bringing along a novice rider through trail rides and obstacle courses. He's allowed her to feel safe, in even the most precarious situations, has been tolerant in group settings and through rider learning curves. Favorite traits his current owner appreciates are his ability to stand for mounting, allowing her to learn how to open and shut a gate mounted, not being put off when other horses bump into him, and how quiet he is in the trailer.
In addition to being a good boy for inexperienced riders, Red does have some good formal training under his belt. He has been sitting some lately, while his owner has been busy. He's got the skills, but at this moment really could benefit from some fitness to allow those skills to shine. Red is very trustworthy on a long rein. He is confident in his lope off cue and takes both leads well and rhythmically. He has a nice loose rein stretchy trot. Putting him together at this time is a little harder for jog work because he isn't fit. He knows how to do it, but in fairness to him, a fitness program is in order. Red also has a nice, forward, swinging walk.
Red is pleasant to handle on the ground. He stands tied without complaint and is good for the farrier. He is currently half shod and prefers a little steel for flat feet on rocky terrain. The farrier was happy with his size and quality of hoof overall though. Red is good in a stall or turned out. He is higher on the pecking order in a group setting and may assert himself if challenged.
Fun fact on Red, in his younger life he was a race horse on the Quarter Horse track! He's had five race starts under his belt from his younger life. He doesn't act like a race horse, he's quite pleasant, chill, and sound. We do have medical records on Red and he is on the Loomis Basin Equine Care program. Xrays and medical records are available for anyone interested in calling him theirs.
