Did you know? The Board of Veterinary Medicine has passed/is passing an ordinance to prevent veterinarians from communicating with their clients through email/text/social media. The ordinance is O.C.G.A. §§ 43-50-120 and emphasizes that until they provide written consent, no veterinarian in Georgia can communicate/provide telemedicine services with their clients about patients. This law is to prevent people from sending a "quick question" about a health concern the pet has not been seen for or over a topic not discussed in your pet's most recent appointment. It is to put vets in the same position as human doctors, who you can only contact through a portal not managed by the doctor or by calling the office to leave a message for the nurse. At this time, no vet has written consent to communicate through any method except at the appointment for your pet, as the Board does not meet until late August/September in order to start sending out these approval letters. We just wanted to keep our clients abreast of laws impacting our ability to serve our clients. The laws are getting stricter in order to help the consumer seek legal action against vets, the cost of medicine is increasing thanks to tarrifs and greed and there is still a shortage of veterinarians and support staff.

Clearwave Fiber internet is down in Conyers, so we are forwarding calls to our phones and trying to approve on-line prescriptions as best we can. The company, of course, states everything is great so who knows when it will be better? 😭😭😭
