In Loving Memory—Brooke Earl Van de Brake, Sr.
Kylie, his granddaughter writes, “Grandpa grew up as an extremely competitive basketball players all through school, which carriers over into all of his walks in life. He was an avid hunter, beginning to train dogs with Bert Carlson in the early 1970’s. He began competing in Field Trails in the late 70’s. For as competitive as Grandpa was, he loved nothing more than giving back to his friends and clients.
He was a wonder teacher, no matter what questions you asked. Then again, that’s what he graduated with, a degree in teaching. He had the upmost respect for all the dogs he trained, he just loved watching them learn. Grandpa admired nothing more than the hardworking amateur who made the time to train and compete with their dogs.
He never turned anyone down when they wanted to come train, that’s where he had his happiest moments. Standing behind someone and their dog and helping them become a better handlers and a better trainer. You often find him sitting at the top pond of Conway Kennels airing a dog and pondering his day. I’m sure he’s shooting every dog another flyer up the in the sky. Here’s to you Grandpa. We will miss you forever, Can’t wait to see all of the pretty sunsets you make for us.
His legacy will live on….
