Female, Labrador Retriever Mix

Sweet Sissy was surrendered to the shelter after living with a family, that included children. Now, this loving girl is trying to make sense of a life that has suddenly changed.💔

At just ONE YEAR OLD, Sissy has already gone from her mother and littermates, to a home and family, and now to life in a shelter. Can you imagine how confusing and heartbreaking that must be?

Sissy is healthy, affectionate, calm, and patient with children. The shelter is not where Sissy belongs. A loving home is. 🏡Could Sissy be the missing piece of your family or perhaps for someone you know? Can you be the one to end Sissy's shelter stay?

❤️Meet Ares
a 3-year-old
60-pound boy

He deserves so much better than the hand life has dealt him.

We know Ares was dumped and picked up by a shelter, from reading his microchip. Sadly, someone adopted him, only to abandon him again. This time, he was found here in Horry County.
But heartbreakingly, that’s not not the worst part of the story.
Before Ares was found, he had been shot in the shoulder.
He’s healing and, incredibly, he is a happy goof ball who enjoys playing with staff and other dogs.

Ares' capacity for love and joy are bulletproof.
🏠His next home needs to be his forever home, he needs an owner as loving and loyal as he is.
If you could be that person contact us about adopting Ares❤️

Meet Amara.
7 years old
❤️ Healthy
Well-behaved, child and dog friendly
🏠 Waiting 450 DAYS at the ACC

Think about that. Nearly 450 days without a forever home. While others get adopted, Amara keeps waiting for someone to see her… choose her… take her home.

She doesn’t need another day in a shelter.
She needs HER person.
She needs a couch. A family. A warm bed. A forever.

Can you be the one who ends Amara’s shelter stay?

How did Barktober Fest go on Saturday?

We are so grateful for the three adoptions that happened at Barktober Fest, as well as everyone who stepped up to foster or sponsor medical treatment. ❤️ Every single act of support makes a difference.

But we don’t want anyone to lose sight of the bigger picture: the ACC currently has 208 dogs in the facility, and 118 of them are adoptable.

That’s 118 good dogs who are waiting, hoping, and desperately in need of homes. We have senior dogs, young dogs, and everything in between. There are dogs with all kinds of personalities, sizes, and needs—each one deserving of the chance to be loved and part of a family.

Three adoptions are wonderful and absolutely worth celebrating—but there are still so many dogs counting on us.

Please help us find a home for each and every one of these 118 dogs. Consider adopting or fostering. Tell your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors. Together, we can help make sure every one of these good dogs gets the loving home they deserve. 🐾❤️
