If a hurricane comes and you can't evacuate, there are some things you need to do to protect your horses. Lacerations, dermatitis, cellulitis, hoof issues (like thrush), pneumonia, and the swallowing of contaminated water are all common issues to look out for. Make sure your emergency kit is stocked with the things you need to treat what you can until help can arrive. Remember, roads do become impassible at times so plan accordingly. We have well stocked emergency kits available, just call.

You read that right...this heat is intense! Be kind to your horse and offer them some relief by cold hosing them to help get their core temperature down. It is also important to make sure they have plenty of cool water to drink and are given electrolytes to replenish what they are losing while they sweat. If you have a fan, now is a great time to put it on them to help the water evaporate from their body and cool it down.

A saddle should do one thing well: let your horse move comfortably and freely.

If it doesn’t fit right, your horse will feel it through soreness, resistance, short strides, and long-term wear on their body. The tricky part? Horses change, and saddles don’t always change with them.

That’s why regular fit checks matter. Make sure your saddle is:
🐴 Distributing weight evenly
🐴 Clearing the spine and shoulders
🐴 Allowing natural movement without pressure points
