CASI is a 501c3 no kill, nonprofit animal shelter and we rely on donations and adoptions. We have dogs and cats of all ages and breeds available for adoption. We are located directly across from the Judson Middle/High School, next to the water treatment plant.

🍂 Tonka: Built Like a Truck...Powered by Belly Rubs

Allow us to introduce Tonka, a 6-year-old cinnamon-colored mystery
mix. We can't tell you exactly what breeds make up this handsome
gentleman, but we're fairly certain "Good Boy" is at least 87% of his
DNA.

Tonka has perfected the art of looking rugged and dignified...right up
until someone offers him a belly rub. Then he flops over faster than a
lawn chair in a hurricane.

He's a medium-energy guy who enjoys a good romp and a nice walk, but
don't let that fool you. His true career aspiration is Professional
Couch Ornament. He's more than happy to binge-watch your favorite
shows while providing expert-level snuggling services.

When it comes to other dogs, Tonka believes friendships should be
carefully curated. He prefers to choose his own canine companions
rather than attend every doggy social event. Cats, however? That's a
firm "No, thank you." He's simply not accepting new feline
applications at this time.

People, on the other hand? Tonka is convinced they were put on Earth
to admire his good looks, scratch his ears, rub his belly, and tell
him he's the most handsome dog they've ever seen. Honestly...he's not
wrong.

If you're looking for a loyal best friend who's equal parts playful,
affectionate, ridiculously handsome, and ready to claim the best seat
on your couch (with your permission...eventually), Tonka is waiting to

Meet Graham – Built Like a Tank, Powered by Zoomies!

If dogs had action-hero movies, Graham would be the star. This
3-year-old American Bulldog is 100% certified beefcake with muscles on
top of muscles...but don't let his tough-guy appearance fool you.
Underneath all that brawn is a lovable goofball whose life motto is,
"Have we met? No? Excellent! We're best friends now!"

Graham has never met a stranger. Mail carrier? New bestie. Neighbor?
New bestie. Random person walking by? Obviously they came to pet him.

He's bursting with energy and is always ready for the next adventure,
whether it's a long walk, a run, a hike, or an enthusiastic game of
"Let's See How Fast We Can Get There!" If you've been looking for a
fitness coach who accepts payment in treats, Graham is accepting new
clients.

Despite looking like he could bench-press a pickup truck, Graham has
manners! He already knows sit and down, and he's eager to show off his
skills—especially if snacks are involved.

He's playful, affectionate, and loves hanging out with his favorite
humans. In fact, personal space is just a suggestion in Graham's

Meet Piper – Proof That Scars Tell Stories, Not Endings.

Piper is a 5-year-old pittie mix with a face that could melt hearts
and a personality that quietly steals them.

Life hasn't always rolled out the red carpet for this sweet girl. She
carries a few scars from her past, but if you ask Piper, she'd much
rather focus on the important things—like snacks, belly rubs, and
making sure you're never lonely.

She's a calm, easygoing lady who occasionally likes to have a little
chat. Nothing too dramatic—just enough to let you know she has
opinions. (Mostly about dinner being five minutes late.)

Piper absolutely adores people and believes every human is a friend
she simply hasn't met yet. When it comes to other dogs, she's a bit of
a social butterfly with standards. She prefers to choose her own
circle of friends, thank you very much. Cats, however, have been
permanently removed from the guest list.

She's got manners, too! Piper already knows sit, shake, and kennel-up,
proving that brains and beauty really do go together.

Now, you may notice Piper has a bit of a round tummy. Before you
assume she's been sneaking midnight cheeseburgers, here's the truth:
she has an abdominal tumor. Right now, the veterinarian believes it's
inoperable, but we're pursuing a second opinion because Piper is worth
exploring every option.

The good news? It doesn't slow her down or affect her quality of life.
She's still happy, affectionate, comfortable, and very much interested
in living her best life—which includes finding someone to love.

We're looking for either a forever adopter or a compassionate medical
foster who can give Piper a safe, loving place to call home while we
determine the next steps for her care.

Piper has already survived the hard part of life. Now she deserves the
easy part—a soft bed, kind hands, and someone who sees past her scars
and round belly to the incredible dog she's always been.

Congratulations! You’ve decided to adopt a new family member. Whether
you’re bringing home a playful puppy, a curious kitten, or a wise
senior pet, adoption is an exciting journey—but it’s important to
remember that your new pet may need time to adjust.

A shelter or rescue environment can be overwhelming. New sights,
sounds, smells, people, and routines can leave even the friendliest
animal feeling unsure. Your new companion may not show their true
personality right away, and that’s completely normal.

🏡 The First Few Days: “Where Am I?”

Your new pet may:

Hide or seem nervous
Sleep more than expected
Eat less or have a sensitive stomach
Be unsure about new people or other pets
Have accidents while learning the new routine

Give them time to decompress. Keep things calm and predictable. Let
them explore at their own pace and avoid overwhelming them with too
many visitors or new experiences right away.

⏰ The 3-3-3 Rule: A Helpful Guide

Every pet is different, but many adopters find the 3-3-3 rule helpful:

The first 3 days:
Your pet may feel stressed, confused, and unsure. They are learning
where they are and who you are.

The first 3 weeks:
Their personality starts to come out. They learn your routine, your
expectations, and begin feeling more comfortable.

The first 3 months:
Your pet is settling in, building trust, and truly becoming part of the family.

Remember: some pets adjust faster, while others need more time.
Patience is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

🐕 For Dogs: Expect a Learning Period

Your new dog may need help learning:

Where to potty
What toys are theirs
What behaviors are expected
How to walk politely on a leash
How to relax in their new home

Even an adult dog may need training and guidance. Many shelter dogs
have never experienced the consistency and structure of a loving home.

Your new pet may not immediately:

Run to greet you
Want belly rubs
Play with toys
Understand your routines

But every day they learn that they are safe, loved, and home.

🐾 Be Prepared for a Lifetime Commitment

Adopting means committing to your pet through:

The puppy
Training challenges
Medical needs
Aging and changing abilities
All the ups and downs of life

Your pet doesn't know they were adopted. They only know that you
