Happy Saturday to our CVK families,
Over the past week, a few of you have reached out regarding negative commentary about Copper Valley Kennels that has appeared on a social media platform. First and foremost, thank you to those who brought this to our attention, we truly appreciate your support and communication. Because others may have seen this information as well, we want to take a moment to address it directly and clarify our position.
At Copper Valley Kennels, we are deeply committed to responsible breeding practices and to continually improving the Vizsla breed. We take great pride in the care we provide our dogs and in maintaining lifelong relationships with our puppy families. We are available before, during, and long after a puppy goes home, and we make every effort to support both our dogs and their owners.
The claim that CVK is an irresponsible breeder is both inaccurate and disappointing. We believe meaningful concerns should be addressed through direct communication, and we welcome those conversations. In this case, the individual making these claims has never contacted us, nor do they have firsthand knowledge of our program, our dogs, or our practices.
It appears this situation may stem from a CVK dog being placed into a rescue by a family. This outcome was completely preventable and deeply unfortunate. We were not made aware of any challenges nor given the opportunity to assist until it was too late. This is the first time a CVK-bred dog has ever been placed into rescue, and it is not reflective of our standards or expectations.
We are very clear both in our conversations and in our contracts that if a family experiences any concerns or circumstances that prevent them from keeping their dog, we want to be involved. Our policy has always been, and remains, that any CVK dog will be welcomed back to ensure proper care and placement, whether that means rehoming to an appropriate family or remaining with us.
Please know that our dogs are at the heart of everything we do. We care deeply about their well-being and the families they join. We will continue to invest in sound genetics, health, temperament, and responsible breeding practices to produce healthy, well-adjusted companions.
If you ever have questions, concerns, or need support with a CVK puppy or dog, we encourage you to reach out. We are, and always will be, here for our dogs and their families.
Sincerely,
Jacob and Brittanie Heuermann
