This weekend was a great reminder that miniature horses are so much more than just “small horses.” Watching these kids spend time with the minis, practice new skills, and simply enjoy being at the barn has been incredibly rewarding.

We may not have stepped into the show ring yet, but we’re already learning lessons that will last a lifetime.

🐴 Confidence – There is something special about watching a child realize, “I can do this.” Whether it’s learning to properly lead a horse, setting up for an obstacle, or mastering a new skill, confidence grows with every experience.

💪 Responsibility – Horses rely on us every single day. Kids learn the importance of grooming, exercising, cleaning up after their horse, and putting the needs of another living being first.

🧠 Mental Growth – Working with horses teaches patience, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and perseverance. Horses don’t always cooperate, and kids quickly learn how to adapt, stay calm, and keep trying.

🏃‍♂️ Physical Activity – Grooming, bathing, setting up obstacles, and working with horses keeps kids active while developing coordination, balance, and strength.

❤️ Compassion & Empathy – Horses teach children to be kind, patient, and aware of the feelings and needs of others.

🤝 Sportsmanship & Teamwork – Even during practice at home, kids learn to encourage one another, celebrate progress, and understand that growth takes time.

The ribbons will be fun when that day comes, but the real reward is already happening—watching these kids grow into confident, hardworking, compassionate young people.

These minis may be small, but the impact they make is huge. ❤️🐴

🌟 Now Accepting Students for our Mini Horse Showmanship Program! 🌟

Have you ever wanted to learn about miniature horses and potentially step into the show world? Here’s your chance!

One Glance Miniature Horses is now accepting applications for a small, hands-on learning group for the remainder of 2026. We are limiting enrollment to just 3 students to ensure personalized instruction and plenty of hands-on experience.

🐴 Who can join?
• Kids and adults are welcome!
• No previous experience required.
• Ideal for individuals interested in learning and eventually showing miniature horses.

📚 Program Details:
✔️ One group lesson per week
✔️ Monthly tuition: $200 (due in full at the beginning of each month)
✔️ Lessons will last approximately 1.5–2 hours
✔️ Students will learn all aspects of miniature horse care and show preparation

Topics may include:
🐴 Grooming and bathing
🐴 Clipping and show preparation
🐴 Ground handling and leading
🐴 Showmanship skills
🐴 Conditioning and exercise programs
🐴 Basic horse care and management
🐴 Proper tack and equipment use
🐴 Horsemanship and sportsmanship

This is a hands-on program. Students will be responsible for preparing their horse for each lesson, including grooming, bathing when needed, and assisting with conditioning and daily care.

🏆 Interested in showing?
Our goal is to prepare students for the 2027 show season. Students wishing to exhibit our horses at shows will be required to:
• Obtain an AMHR membership
• Pay all applicable show entry fees
• Pay applicable horse use/show fees

This program is designed for individuals who are serious about learning, growing, and becoming part of our show team.

🐴✨ Who Wants to Learn More About Showing Miniature Horses? ✨🐴

I’ve been working more with miniature horses and I’d love to share this amazing industry with others!

I’m considering putting together a Miniature Horse Clinic/Open House here in Conroe,Tx where people can come out, learn about the different classes, meet the horses, and see what showing minis is all about. Before I start planning, I’d love to see who might be interested.

There are opportunities for everyone—from young children to retired adults. Miniature horse showing offers so many fun and rewarding divisions, including:

🏆 Showmanship
🎨 Color Classes
🐴 Halter Classes
🏃 Hunter/Jumper (in-hand, no riding)
🛒 Driving Classes with carts
⭐ And many more divisions within driving and performance events!

Whether you’re looking for a new hobby, a family activity, a competitive outlet, or just want to spend time around these incredible little horses, there is truly something for everyone.
