Greed has no place in horse training.

The fastest way to hold a horse back is to ask for more than it's ready to give. Every horse learns at a different pace, and the ones that last are built through patience, consistency, and doing right by the horse—not by rushing the process.

Don't let your goals get bigger than your horsemanship.

The best horsemen aren't greedy. They know when to ask for more, when to reward, and when to call it a day.

Conquered a big milestone and entered in my first rodeos this weekend. Newt was an absolute gem for taking things in stride as I fed him to the wolves. He’s never seen a barrier before, nor has he ever been in a rodeo and his first taste of it was a perf under the lights in front of a big crowd.

Caught 2/3 this weekend and finally got to practice in the box with the barrier right before the perf in Superior last night where he had to once again survive the lights, a tiny arena, a tough steer, and a big crowd.

Have a lot to learn if we are going to chase the big boys, but I can’t thank my brother enough for pulling two all-nighters in a row to travel with me, keep the horses fed, watered, and feeling good with the heat and smoke working against us, and being so encouraging every step of the way. You’re one in a million Casey. 🩶

Thank you for entering up with me Shawn. You’re such an easy, goofy, joyful person to be around and I’m excited to be on this journey with you. We are a good team and will be a force to be reckoned with after some more practice and entries. So grateful for your friendship. 😊

Also so unbelievably grateful for all the encouragement, words of advice, hugs, and kicks in the ass from so many other friends and strangers that pushed me to go for it.

It’s never too late to chase a dream or try something new, and failing is so much better than not even trying.
