School Bus Studio

School Bus Studio 🎨🚍 School Bus Studio rolls up with creativity and fun to you! We would like to share our love for art, by taking the bus many different places.

From afterschool art classes to birthday parties and special events. 🖌✨ 🐾 And when I’m not making art, I’m hanging with furry friends—offering loving pet sitting services at my home. My art students and I would like to convert a school bus into a traveling art studio, and we want to make it a nonprofit organization, run by kids. To nursing homes, homeless shelters, hospitals, and anywhere else the bus wants to go.

🎨 Art has such a beautiful way of connecting generations!

The first picture is my nephew Josh when he was little and came to create art in my studio. I still remember how special it was to share my love of art with him all those years ago.

Now Josh has five children of his own, and he recently came out to Colorado with his son, Graham, who has a wonderful passion for creating. We spent such a special time together drawing, working with clay on the pottery wheel, painting clay tools and bringing his amazing Angry Bird creation to life!

Seeing Josh return to my studio as a dad—and getting to share the joy of art with the next generation—made my heart so happy. These are the full-circle moments I will treasure forever. ❤️🎨

And to top it all off, while we were out to eat, we ran into Mrs. Bittner, the librarian my girls had when they were in elementary school. She took the time to look through Graham’s drawings in his journal, making an already special visit even more meaningful. What a wonderful reminder of how creativity, family, and special people from our past can connect us across generations! ❤️

🕷️🌼 Miss Spider’s Tea Party 25 Years Later! 🌼🕷️

Some moments really do come full circle. 💛

Twenty five years ago, I threw a Miss Spider Tea Party for my girls, complete with Miss Spider, little friends gathered around, and lots of childhood magic.

Yesterday, I got to bring it all back again… only this time for my grandsons and their little friends! 🥹💕

We read Miss Spider’s Tea Party, painted clay teacups and saucers 🎨☕, played outside, zoomed down the slide, and of course had our very own Miss Spider Tea Party. 🐝🦋🌻🕷️

There is something pretty amazing about realizing that an idea I created for my daughters 25 years ago is now becoming a memory for the next generation.

Same Miss Spider.
Same Grandma with a puppet. 😂
A whole new group of little faces. 💛

I think that might be one of the sweetest parts of being a grandma, getting to take some of the magic you created for your own children and sprinkle it all over again for your grandchildren.

25 years later, Miss Spider is still throwing a pretty great tea party! 🕷️☕🌼💕

Apparently School Bus Studio has gone to the DOGS! 😂🐾🎨🚌

When your two businesses collide… art + pet sitting = one very happy bus!

Over the years, I’ve had quite a few of my furry pet-sitting friends wander onto the Art Bus to see what all the excitement is about. Some come aboard to supervise, some make themselves comfortable on the couch, and others seem pretty convinced they should be signed up for the next art class. 😂

I spend my days doing two things I absolutely love, creating with kids and caring for animals and sometimes those two worlds get to overlap in the cutest possible way. ❤️

The Art Bus may have been designed for little artists, but judging by these pictures, the dogs have officially decided there’s always room for a few more paws at the art paw-ty! 🐶🐾🎨

More than ten years ago, Asha Federico was one of my art students, and today I am absolutely bursting with pride seeing the incredible young woman she has become.

Asha was born with severe hearing loss in both ears and has worn hearing aids since she was just a few months old. Instead of allowing that to define or limit her, she has found such a beautiful way to embrace it and to help others do the same.

She recently shared her story, “On Silence,” in Hearing Health magazine, writing so beautifully about growing up with hearing loss and learning to see her experience in a completely different way. And her creativity certainly didn’t stop when she left my art room! 🎨❤️

Asha also created Superhear-os, her own line of adorable charms and decorations for hearing aids. What began with the childhood nickname she had for her hearing aids (her “heroes) has grown into a creative way to help children and adults celebrate their hearing aids and make them something joyful, colorful, and uniquely their own.

Seeing her combine art, writing, creativity, advocacy, and her own personal story is just incredible.

As an art teacher, you always hope that somewhere along the way you help your students discover that their creativity matters. You rarely get to know where that creativity will take them years later.

Asha, look where yours has taken you. ❤️

I am SO incredibly proud of you and so grateful that, all those years ago, I had the privilege of being your art teacher. Keep creating, keep writing, keep advocating, and keep showing the world that the things that make us different can sometimes become the very things that allow us to make a difference.

Once my art student, always my art student. 🎨💕 And I couldn’t be prouder.

Sometimes the very best part of teaching art is getting to see where creativity takes your students years later. ❤️🎨

This past Wednesday was such a special full-circle moment for me. One of my former art students came back to visit me after more than 10 years and even volunteered to help with my final art camp of the summer!

It was so wonderful to reconnect with her, hear about her life, and especially hear about all the creative ventures she has pursued over the years. From going to college to become a lawyer, drawing, writing poetry, to jewelry making, she has continued finding beautiful ways to express herself and use her creativity. One project that especially touched me is the jewelry she creates for hearing aids, inspired by her own experience of being born with hearing loss. 💕 What an amazing way to turn something personal into something creative and meaningful.

And then to watch her jump right back into my art studio and help my students create was just the icing on the cake! We spent the day getting messy, laughing, painting, working with clay, and creating all kinds of wonderful projects together.

As I wrapped up my last art camp of the summer, I couldn’t have imagined a sweeter way to end it. Seeing a student I taught so many years ago grow into such a smart, creative young woman and then having her come back and share that creativity with the next group of young artists was pretty incredible!

Art has such a beautiful way of bringing people back together. 🎨❤️

What a wonderful reminder that you never really know where the seeds of creativity you plant in a child might someday grow. 🌱✨

☀️ Summer flew by, and it’s hard to believe school is already here! 🍎🖍️

That also means School Bus Studio Art Club is rolling back into Marshdale Elementary! 🚌🎨

I’m so excited to spend another season creating with your amazing artists! This year’s projects are packed with creativity, including:
🎈 Critters Take Flight – clay hot air balloon lanterns with glowing LED lights

🍿 Lights, Camera, Critters! – fun movie-themed animal portraits with a 3D popcorn surprise

Whether your child loves clay, painting, drawing, or trying something new, there’s a session they’ll enjoy.

📸 Take a look through the flyers to see which classes (Thursday or Friday) spark your child’s imagination!

✨ Be sure to register early—Art Club sessions fill up quickly, and I’d love to create with your child this fall!

I can’t wait to welcome everyone back to the Art Bus for another year of imagination, creativity, and making wonderful memories together! 💛🎨🚌
