Chili had her first private session today! We worked on setting boundaries for appropriate greetings and play with her humans!

We had a small group today, which means we did some challenging work that required many training sessions to build upon! The requirement to hold a place while another dog is being worked improves focus, builds impulse control, and establishes boundaries even while excited.

Both work dogs got out to play in the shade this afternoon, enjoying their different ball games simultaneously!
Aspen is bred to RUN, hence why she loves a game of fetch. Watson's bully side means he enjoys using his body in play, the horse sized ball allows him to do that safely.
It's still hot out there so we took a break every 5ish minutes and were only out there playing for about 15 minutes. They're happy and content regardless!

Rower has a tendency to spook when loud traffic passes by and lives on a very noisy road. So we are taking some of our sessions outside and learning that these big scary noises 1, aren't going to come near us, and 2, will go away on their own WITHOUT us moving away.
He is too anxious to take treats and trying to have him do obedience would just add to the overstimulation, so I remain very calm, spoke gently to him when a noisy truck or helicopter passed, and gently stroke him when he comes near. We will definitely be adding these sessions into our weekly training moving forward.
This is vital both for his safety and for his comfort in his own neighborhood!

Pluto wasn't sure what to make of the motorcycle, so I let him investigate it, (he was not allowed closer than pictured, this is not my bike). He did a once around, determined it was nothing to be scared of, and continued on our walk!
It's so important to let your dogs investigate the "scary" things, this builds a more well rounded dog who is more apt to approach something with curious confidence rather than run in fear.
