Cali is making good progress with her training. She is not tethered in the house and is able to be successful with the sit and come command.

Danrich’s Camelot ( co owned with Dana Richmond) is also getting a refresher on basic obedience at Black Label Kennels. She is learning to do a perfect sit as that is what is needed when they go to the line to be ready to retrieve their bird. They also need to be able to walk and heel nicely around large amounts of people and dogs at hunt test venues. Although Camelot is a conformation prospect and loves the show ring, she loves to work and keep busy. We are so proud of our well rounded girl. Good girl, Camelot!

Our puppy prospect, Danrich’s Camelot( is co owned with Dana Richmond) is in GunDog training at Black Label Kennels ( where Coco and Dutch trained).
I always hesitate to put up pictures and videos of force fetch because the general public doesn’t understand and thinks it’s cruel to the dog. I’ll break it down in steps so I can educate:
1. The force fetch table isn’t any different than the grooming table that your dog is put on in the grooming salon.
2. The dumbbell that Camelot has in her mouth is the same kind used in many dog sports such as utility.
3. Camelot doesn’t look distressed at all ( tail is wagging and she wants to work). She only needs low level rewards such as kibble.
4. We get many requests for puppy prospects to be companions/ gun dogs but the intended owner has never trained before. Just because they are a retriever doesn’t mean that they will bring the bird back to you. They need to be trained what to do.

Brandy was bred with Miner( of Everso Labradors) for our first all yellow litter in 3 years! Ultrasound to look for puppies is scheduled for 10/5. Many thanks to our wonderful handler, Stefanie Perrine, and Miner’s co owners Julie and Shawn for rushing him to the vet yesterday to be collected for today’s insemination. It took the coordination of people in 3 states to make this happen. So grateful for our wonderful Labrador community!

Many thanks to our wonderful handler, Stefanie Perrine and Miner’s wonderful co-owners Julie and Shawn for scrambling at the last minute to get Miner to the vet to be collected and his semen shipped to our vet to be inseminated into Brandy before her fertility window closed. Once we have a confirmed pregnancy by ultrasound, we will post his pics, health testing, pedigree,and accolades . In the meantime, his information can be found on the Everso Labradors website under Miner. Ultrasound is scheduled for 10/5! This will be our first yellow litter in 3 years!

Cali eats lunch out of her snuffle mat

Cali’s curriculum activity today is eating lunch off her snuffle mat. It’s always good for puppies to learn to eat off different surfaces and out of different dog bowls( such as slow feeders, puzzles, etc as it works their minds- enrichment exercises). Cali is still fully supervised but isn’t needing to be tethered when inside all the time. She is learning that she needs to stick by our sides. Good girl, Cali!
