The Queen 🩷

Happy birthday to my first girl dog and the mother of our Mad King 👑 litter.

She traveled to us all the way from Argentina 🇦🇷 and has been old soul since the beginning.

I think her life really got better when Ally arrived and she had a partner in crime. Together they are quite the team 🤪

I cannot believe how she is already 5 years old 🎈

(I feel like I was just driving to Boston to pick her up and remember how tiny she was).

Unlike I first thought - she is actually the best dog with our baby and not obsessive at all like I was thinking she would be.

The best day in her life is any day she gets to chase wildlife and then relax later on the couch.

Annual hiking trip to the White Mountains 🏔️

Also baby’s first hiking trip to the wilderness.

We have been going to this trail for several years now but usually after the peak has already passed.

Now we were there with the perfect time and had the whole trail to ourselves.

The trip did require getting up at 2.30am so that was the thing I regretted in the afternoon when I had no energy left.

Our shepherds did well and I was quite pleased that the troublemakers Ally & Tara didn’t chase any wildlife.

Little girl did amazing in her carrier and enjoyed some milk at the shelter.

I previously thought that packing and preparing for a hiking trip like this with dogs was a lot but it seems that now when tiny human is involved it’s much more 😁

The view was just breathtaking before 7am 😍

And reason why I am still tired even though baby slept well is definitely this puppy dog (who is already now 2 years old btw).

Last night or I guess this morning around 3.30am she decided that it was time to wake up.

Took her out because maybe she needed it - no. She was so upset that I put a leash on her….. What a horrible thing to do.

Why I put leash on her 3.30am?

Because in the past she has done the “let’s chase deer 🦌 at 4am in our woods” trick so she doesn’t get to go outside in the early hours without a leash.

Her recall is way better than last time when she took off but at 4am in the morning didn’t want to test my training skills.

Put her back to her kennel and hour later she starts to bark, hitting the kennel door and howling or whining.

Can’t even remember what else she was doing.

Then gave up around 6am and moved her to another spot 😅

And she was just her happy self - asking didn’t you hear me 😆🤦🏻‍♀️

She does this wake the whole house up thing every once in awhile but it’s just a little different now when you also have a 3 month old baby 😮‍💨

I swear they are not all like this 🤪

(We are just missing eye exam which is only valid for 1 year so we shall do that later). I am thankful that it’s also the cheapest one of these all 😅

And yes, health testing isn’t cheap but it doesn’t only give an idea of this dog and it’s health but it gives information about the breed in general and is important to me as an owner and her breeder as well.

Looking forward what this girl will do in the future 🩷

Once again this dog has surprised me 💙

We had a small (maybe 15 people) party this past weekend and I was hesitant to let Jax roam free because his eye sight and hearing has gone down in the past months.

I didn’t want situations where people are coming to the house and he doesn’t recognize them or hear them.

However, we decided to see how he does.

He was amazing.

No issues with people, kids or infants 😁

Kids were running in circles, screaming, petting him and he behaved so well 🥰

And just once he tried to steal kids hotdogs 😂

There he was middle of the party enjoying the attention.

I think he really enjoyed being the only dog for one night.

Yes, our other dogs visited too but I didn’t want 4 shepherds running around making things chaotic and maybe not everyone wants to leave a party covered in white fluff 😂

Jax has a temperament that I absolutely love. He will come and say hello but then leaves to check something else out.

He is not overly social but not shy or reactive. He is confident still at 12 years of age. (This picture is couple of years old).

So proud of him especially with the kids because he didn’t grow up with kids.

Thank you Jax for making impossible to ever find a dog like you again 😘

Finally some serious progress with Opie 💚

We have added exercise and free roaming in the property (aka playing and running with the girls) and I think he has only shown soreness maybe once or twice.

And that was several hours of activity in one day.

Hoping to get more training this fall and maybe he might be ready for a trial in the spring.

We still haven’t practiced jumping and I think we will wait with the jumps until he gets more muscle back.

Heeling definitely needs to be fine tuned but dumbbells we are just going to hope for the best 🤣

(If you are serious about dog training, probably not the best advice here).

Might need to do some long downs with distractions as well because that’s something he might have forgotten.

But other than that he is basically ready 🤪

I am not sure what is the reason that lately my social media has been filled with dog fights or issues with dogs in the same household.

Maybe because we brought home a little human recently? I was reading posts about having issues with their dogs that had been together since puppies and then somewhere in the hundreds of comments they said that nothing else has changed but they did have a baby while back.

Even though we think nothing changes- at least our shepherds can definitely sense that something is different + we have such a big thing for routines that just that changing is a big thing for our pack.

Most of these posts one thing comes over and over (and at the moment it’s seems that I have plenty of time reading all over the internet 😆) and it’s how the owners say they never saw it coming. Unfortunately, lot of these stories that I been seeing they don’t end just for the dogs fighting but rather something more awful.

I have been involved in dog fights and they are never easy and at least personally I always go to panic mode because they are so intense and shepherds are not the smallest breed either.

I am not sure why people don’t talk about issues with same household dogs more. Because it’s definitely a thing.

And it’s not just the bully breeds and malinois - some many smaller breeds too. That one day something just shifts and the pack attacks one dog.

Our boys get along with other males, they just get along with each other. Especially at home.

While I have multiple areas and possibilities to keep them separated, anyone who is interested buying a puppy from us and they already have dogs previously in the family - I always want to know if there were issues how would they handle them.

Most of my dogs are crate trained and it can help when you have multiple dogs. But sometimes dogs do escape or crate/kennel door is left open 🤦🏻‍♀️

Luckily we had our routines and systems in place way before the baby arrived and our dogs are STARTING to settle to the new life but it has taken weeks.

My next worry is the old dog getting older and how to let him safely be around the baby when his eyes are not seeing that well anymore 😞

Any tips anyone?

Hoping that we can make some hiking happen this fall with him 💙

Last year he had no problems hiking a mountain 🏔️ to see the sunrise 🌅

(Because for sure that’s what he wanted to be doing at 5am 😆).

I feel like the past 6 months Jax has gotten older quickly.

His hearing and eye sight is drastically gone worse and he is also showing some signs of dementia. This I have diagnosed myself 👋 👩‍⚕️

But sometimes when he wakes up, it takes him a minute to realize who I am 💔 Also, might be the fact that he doesn’t seem to have the best eyes anymore.

But somehow, he is able to see Opie anywhere (the dog that he hates the most) and still hears the cookie jar 🫙 opening 😆

And if I would let him - would still pick a fight with Opie. I am sure that will never go away.

But then on the other side - he still comfortably spends HOURS at the yard with the girls. And Ally keeps making him run in circles 🤪

This spring he lost tons of weight and even when he eats most of all my dogs (3+ cups a day) he doesn’t seem to gain much of weight back. We ran his bloodwork on June and everything was normal.

He has always been a picky eater so this has surprised me. I started giving him a new supplement and he didn’t refuse that either. I also give him extra treats and he appreciates that 💙

I wish we could get some swimming done because water for sure is his element and it would be good for his joints as well 🥰

We are both looking for cooler weather and fall colors 🍁

And we are grateful every day that he is here to share this life with us 🖤

And to my surprise the best dog with a newborn is

Tara 🩷

Can’t believe my little girl Tara turns 5 years in a couple of months.

She was the one that I was most worried about around the baby because she tends to be obsessed so easily 🤪

She is also our most velcro dog and really has surprised me big time. She has been absolutely amazing since day 1.
