I have grown quite fond of the Newfoundland Breed over the years.

The activity level within the breed ranges from sloth to energetic, offering quite the challenge in Training to acquire quality Newfoundland companions. CERTIFICATION:

ODIN IS PLACED!
thank you all for sharing and your encouragement!

Newfoundland Available for Adoption...

From his owner:

Odin has been a wonderful part of our family since he flopped onto our living room floor as only a Newfy could.
Unfortunately life has put us on a path that has caused him to not get the attention he deserves.
Odin is 6 years old and around 180 pounds of goofiness.
He does have ongoing ear infection issues, but as would be expected from all Newfies that came from Dominion’s- he has no issues with other dogs or cats. He has never bitten anyone. If he has any faults it’s that he is so overly friendly he forgets how big he is and knocks people over sometimes.
He is kennel trained, leash trained and of course house trained
This is heartbreaking to do but Odin deserves better.

Please let me know if you are interested in giving him a home.

So excited to get an AKC letter. Thought for a moment it was his registration, but no, it was his star puppy certificate and medal.

So cute!

Memory gets going....
"He was such a little guy when he achieved his first certification."

Spring will have us working on our CGC.

For those of you that are still waiting for your registration- for any reason- it is still possible to connect training certification to your dog without registration so long as they are microchiped.
Once registration comes, be sure to include his microchip number in the process and the data should transfer (i spoke to an AKC representative about this and she felt certain a transfer of train certification would process with a microchip. I have yet to check with OFFA regarding testing, but it seems most likely that testing should follow the microchip number. )

December 17th, 2023.

One of the pups i raised breathed his last.... 😪

Hudson is laid to rest.
Faithfully he gave everything he had to his mom up to the last breath. (Proud Newfoundland emoji if there was one)

It is so hard for these large hearted dogs to let go of the people they were born to take care of.

Hudson was special to me. Reminded me so much of Spencer, the grandfather of my lineage. He sent me gifts and cards his entire life... photos of his awards, him walking his mom so she would stay healthy, sharing pictures of his other canine family members...

I remember raising him like it was yesterday.

He was such a home boy. Quiet, maybe a bit shy. He never wanted anything extra... he was so content just being in your presence, being acknowledged with the look: "I see you".

His loss brings me to tears, as it makes plain the limited time we have with these amazing friends...

It makes me hug my own pups a little tighter to know they will leave this planet before I do.

Hudson...
You were beautiful, courageous, smart, loyal and an easy keeper... we will miss you so...

What a great Newfoundland you proved to be.

See you on the other side.

Jupi and I are visiting the children..
Spent puppy time at the river, but there is nothing like crashing on a bed of golden leaves at the end of the day.

Dux went to see the vet Thursday.

Jojo accompanied him.

She did not accompany him merely for the ice cream cone that accompanies a vet visit. (Though that is a perk on any trip)

Nor does she make the long trip for the chicken nuggets that sooth any poke the vet gives a pup. (Yeah, maybe a little for the nuggets...)

No, no.

Although a great, big sister- who teaches the little rug rat the ins and outs of canine duties, who loves his pesky companionship- bar the teeth (those needle sharp teeth) , Jojo had a plan of her own in the back burner....

Meanwhile....

The vet visit went well.
Dux is in awesome shape and loved by the technicians and vet alike.
He got his shots, check up, weight (a whopping 40 pounds at 12 weeks) and a letter from the vet saying he is on schedule for his last shots, rabies and ahhhhhem- (a stool sample)

He will be signing up for star puppy class next week when the classes open up. Dux's official education is about to begin.

Jojo however, who clocked in at 135 lbs while at the vet, just finished a beginning obedience class for large dogs at Northern Tails Dog Training, and was eager to see what Lilac City Dog Training Club had to offer.

It was a wonderful sniff-o-rama! The doll in the wheelchair seemed so real. Dogs with their charges in tow, streamed into the class and prepared for the big test...CGC!

The American kennel club has a program in place to guide owners in the acclimation process of building a relationship as a team with their canine companion.
The Canine Good Citizenship test is the first in a series of three disciplines that prepare a dog to navigate the human world with the grace and majesty that comes from a bonded communication and persistent teamwork between woman and dog.

Jojo mastered the beginning obedience lessons so well, that she and I decided to give that old CGC test a try- just to see where we need to brush up before taking the class next quarter...

And Lo and behold, that Jojo done passed the test in one go- no further actin needed for that title!

Next is Advanced CGC, titled CGCA.

Now this one will test her grit.

It is full of distractions and distractions are Jojo's evil nemesis....

Like a kid in a candy shop, remaining connected to mom via attention and awareness, will be Jojo's biggest challenge.

So, kudos to Dux for a great puppy vet visit... kudos to Jojo for getting her CGC title.

It was a busy, profitable day, as I hope was yours as well!

All my best friends!

Puppy Rhythms..

Could be a song title, right?

I imagine every one of my followers on this page has danced a tune to "puppy rhythms" of their own.
Grant it, no two puppies are alike, but the bulk of them sing a typical puppy song.

“I gotta chew… explore the new…
Play and p**p, eat and snoop, bark and run, dig for fun. .
Oh what a life I live!”

Dux, Dux, Dux….

He has blended seamlessly in with my pack. He is super intelligent and learns new things very quickly. We have learned to sit before entering or exiting a door, we have mastered “eyes", which means look at my eyes, or give me your attention. We sit when asked, and are learning to respect the big dogs space and their bones.
We've had a bath, been on the grooming table, met many friendly people and even get treats from a select few. We absolutely love the cats, though they don't seem to love us back and we have a vet appointment coming up soon.

This summer, after all our shots are completed, we are going to be taking puppy classes! And trips to the river will begin! Water games for puppies! Fun and educating!

Well, I hope I stirred up a few memories in your doggie data bank experience!

Cheers to puppies!

I took the plunge and picked up Dux last Sunday. His eyes are incredible. Focused, optimistic, filled with the potential for unlimited mischief.

I'd love to see him pass his testing, like his mom did, and become my retirement stud dog.

Plans are to complete the AKC certification through urban dog, dabble in a bit of water work, and most likely get an obedience title if I'm feeling fit enough to keep up with him. I've always wanted to play newfie games in the water.

I'll be joining Lilac City Dog Training Club in Spokane again, acquiring my AKC Evaluators certification, and start teaching star puppy classes- my passion... changing the world one puppy and human at a time.

Dux is a happy guy, loves to learn- (with lots of treats)- and picks up tasks quickly.

He misses his litter mates terribly, and most likely his children, but he is adjusting to the new schedule and pack dynamic.

Dux is the promise of my entire lineage mixed with a little Italian attitude. I will be looking up his father's line, tracing it back through time, to spend a few contemplative moments in footprints of a foreign gene pool.

Should be fun.

Tana still has a couple grey males available- (I'm shocked they didn't go first)- they are of the silver tone, possibly shifting to the dark charcoal grey that my lineage has seen through Abby.

So buckle up and enjoy the ride... I'll be posting stories once again of our adventure.

Oh my gosh friends, I recently found out that Kadi, (now known as Maize) has had a litter!
Kadi was the culmination of all my breeding. My pride and joy! Her lineage has over 13 years of health testing. Her grandfather Sam is the most wonderful service dog for a veteran, and her dad Maxx, was a service dog for his owner, helping her with seizures. Her great grandmother was My treasured Annabelle...

This litter has some great depth of character in its lineage. The intuition they possess within their DNA should be high. I'm thinking one or two may prove to be great service dogs, for those of you asking me about that.

Kadi was cleared with her preliminary health testing just before my divorce forced her Sale. No genetic health conditions noted.

She is with a marvelous family in north western Washington. Surrounded by children of all ages, these puppies have been raised in an emotional nest of childlike love and trust. Human interaction and socializing has blanketed their existence since their birth.

This is Maize's owners first litter. Her name is Tana. She is doing a fabulous job but her audience is not near as vast as mine, and let's face it, I have a hellofa fabulous group of people following this page.

To those of you who have been asking me about puppies, and to start breeding again, or even to make a recommendation in a safe direction, this would be it:

Kadi would be the mother of my puppies if I were still breeding. Her puppies would be what I was selling right now. Kadis character was a perfect blend of protective devotion, curious investigation, and passionate love for her family and life in general. Kadi's pups are worth a look.

I do not know the specifics of how the pups were raised, their pricing, nor anything about their father (though I think he is an import from Italy- correct me if I'm wrong about this) but I'm sure you can ask Tana about it at:
https://www.newfoundrykennels.com/

Is her web page. She is also on Facebook.

Tell her Rebecca Sent you her way, and don't wait long.

I believe their cardio health check is coming up and they will be ready for their new homes next week!

Thank you guys for hanging out here with me. To those of you seeking a new puppy, I hope you find exactly what you're dreaming of!

All my best!
