Y'all, our clients showed UP today. Like, ALL of them. 😂 We were swamped, almost overrun, and just flat out SLAMMED today, and we wouldn't change it! Every single person we saw today was happy, gracious, and so patient. Being a walk-in clinic is tough some days. Sometimes people get frustrated for having to wait - and we get it! Nobody wants to sit around with their pet for an exam. It's tedious and can be stressful. But guys, y'all rocked today! Thanks to our amazing staff, we moved through a LOT of folks today. People always ask why we're open on so many holidays, and it's because there's a need, and we do our absolute best to meet it. We love you guys and those furry family members of yours!

This Good Friday gave us a thousand earthly reasons to be thankful, along with the biggest Heavenly reason to be thankful. Jesus died for us all those years ago so that we may live with him eternally in Heaven. Work is not a burden but a privilege, and it came directly from Him.

We pray that you all have a restful, peaceful, and THANKFUL holy weekend. It's Friday, but SUNDAY is coming!! ⛪✝️❤️

‼️‼️ ATTENTION ‼️‼️

This coming Mon, Tues, and Wed (Feb 16-18), we will not have doctors available. They will be out of town at a conference to learn a few new tricks! The clinic will remain open for normal business hours, and there are definitely still some services that can be performed by our technicians. We just ask that you call ahead to be sure we can accommodate what you're needing. Thank you for understanding. You know we love y'all!!

Because of the extremely tough year our clinic has had, we're doing things a little differently this holiday season. With the loss of our precious Dr. Anderson, we have all realized how important every day is with the ones we love. We're taking a little extra time to be with our families this year.

Our Internet service is down, which means our phones are down. They've been on and off all day today. We're so sorry if you've been trying to reach us! We'll still be open until 5:30 today if you need us. Hopefully we get our phones back soon! 🤞🏼

Happy long weekend eve! We hope you're looking forward to a little extra free time this weekend! We will not be seeing patients after 11:30 tomorrow (Friday, August 29), and will be closed on Monday for Labor Day. We hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!

‼️HEADS UP! We won't have a doctor available Friday afternoon (8/15) after 2:30. We'll see patients tomorrow (Thursday) from 8-11:30 and 1:30-5, then Friday from 8-11:30 and 1:30-2:30. The clinic will remain open until 5:30. ‼️

We now carry Bravecto Quantum, a ✨year-long✨ shot for fleas and ticks in our dog patients! We have had questions about a flea and tick shot for years, and now it's actually available! We have it in the clinic ready to use, so let us know when you're ready to get started!

As you all know, Animal Medical Center has taken an enormous blow recently. With the sudden and heartbreaking passing of Dr. Clayton Anderson, that leaves the clinic responsibilities solely to Dr. Clay and Dr. Alicia. Some difficult decisions have been made after countless hours of prayers and brainstorming.

First and foremost, we have made the decision to close the Martin Luther King clinic. We are unsure of specifically when the last day will be, but it will likely be within the next one to two weeks. We have already transferred all of the paper charts to Idlewild so we can continue to serve you seamlessly at that location. We have prayed so hard that you all continue to use our clinic, but that might not work for your individual circumstances, and we understand that completely. Dr. Alicia, specifically, is so incredibly thankful for how you fully stood behind her as she took over that clinic alone for the last three years.

Next, our Idlewild hours are changing. We will still open at 6:30am Monday through Friday to ensure you can always drop off early and pick up after work. We will be closing at 5:30pm during the week. We are also no longer able to offer Saturday hours.

Y'all, this is tough. When we tell you that actual tears have been shed over these decisions, we mean it. Dr. Clay and Dr. Alicia have two small children who are deserving of having their parents be present for them. If the clinic hours stayed the same, it'd be too large of a task to balance family and work both, especially trying to give 100% to each. We know that these changes seem huge and scary, but the grace we have been shown during the last few weeks has been the most amazing thing. You have loved on us, checked in on us, shared stories from decades of memories, cried with us, and most importantly prayed for and with us. Please continue to do those things. We are so incredibly thankful for how y'all have stuck by our Animal Medical Center family.

Please help us spread the word about the changes, and more importantly pray for our strength and wisdom in the coming months and years. We're all going to be ok, but goodness we all will have to work together to get there.

Dr. W. Clayton Anderson, 73, of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at NMMC, Tupelo, MS. A funeral service is planned for Monday, May 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church,127 Airline Rd, Columbus, MS 39702. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be held at the church two hours prior to the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church-Columbus MS. Cockrell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
