Exceptional care comes in many forms, including the little touches that make recovery a little brighter!

Lucca recently visited The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center for cataract surgery, where he received expert care from Dr. Sarah Hoke and veterinary student Taylor. Along with helping restore his vision, Taylor also created a custom Buckeye-themed post-operative collar just for him!

Thank you for trusting our team with Lucca’s care. We’re wishing him a smooth recovery!

This National Pet Cancer Awareness Month, we’re honoring the story behind a beloved tradition at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center’s Oncology Service. ❤️🐾

After their dog Tagato underwent cancer treatment, George and Tina Skestos were inspired to bring the bandana tradition they experienced at Colorado State University back to Ohio State. For 40 years, the Skestos family, longtime dog lovers and founders of Gigi’s nonprofit shelter, have helped provide red bandanas to celebrate pets completing cancer treatment.

Today, each bandana symbolizes courage, hope and the bond between patients, families and caregivers.

Did your pet receive a red bandana from Ohio State? Share their name or photo in the comments. We’d love to celebrate them with you.

On National Parvo Awareness Day, we're proud to share new research from The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center that advances care for puppies battling canine parvovirus. Published in JAVMA, the study found that adding a novel f***l microbiota transplant approach to standard treatment helped patients recover faster and shortened hospital stays.

Research like this expands evidence-based treatment options and gives parvo puppies a better chance at recovery.

Read the full study:

Abstract Objective To evaluate the efficacy of a novel spectrum-of-care f***l microbiota transplant (FMT) dosing regimen as an adjunctive therapy for canine parvovirus (CPV). Say thank you to your veterinarian with a gift in their honor. Your support strengthens the Veterinary Medical Center team so they can care for more animals in need. Include a personal message, and we’ll hand-deliver your note to your veterinarian in May. 💌

It's been one week since Day of Giving, and we want to say thank you to all of the donors for the Shelter and Community Medicine program! Because of you, we raised over $16,000!

This amount translates to nearly 3,200 vaccines for community pets, wellness care for over 640 community animals, or support for 10 student rotations in shelter medicine.

Your generosity directly impacts the lives of shelter animals and future shelter veterinarians. Thank you for being the difference. ❤️

We heard it’s almost graduation season… and one very special Buckeye has already crossed the finish line! 🎓

Meet Belle, who is celebrating after completing her final chemotherapy treatment at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center. To mark the occasion, she wore a custom graduation cap decorated with six Buckeye stickers — each one representing a successful treatment — in honor of her dad who is an Ohio State alumnus.

Belle began her journey after being diagnosed with lymphoma by her primary care veterinarian. She started care at Ohio State in December and completed her final chemotherapy session on April 10.

“We had previously visited the VMC with Belle’s brother, Woody, so we knew she would receive excellent care… We couldn’t be happier with our experience," said Belle's owner. "The staff, care, and communication solidified our appreciation for the VMC.”

Today, we’re celebrating Belle, a true Buckeye who earned every “credit” with courage and resilience. 🌰 ❤️

The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center mourns the tragic passing of Lynnea Soposki, DVM ’16, her husband Luke Soposki, and their one-year-old son Logan.

Dr. Soposki was a valued member of our alumni community, and this loss is felt with profound sadness throughout our hospital and across the veterinary profession.

Dr. Soposki’s journey as a Buckeye veterinarian and her dedication to caring for others are part of the lasting impact she leaves behind. Her life and work will be remembered by the many people whose lives she touched.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

Dear Muirfield Animal Hospital Clients:

It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected and heartbreaking loss of our colleague and friend, Dr. Lynnea Soposki, who passed away this weekend alongside her family in a tragic car accident. 💔

Dr. Soposki was an extraordinary veterinarian, a compassionate caregiver, and a deeply valued member of our team. She brought kindness, dedication, and a genuine love for her patients and their families into every interaction. Many of you had the privilege of knowing her, and we know this loss will be felt not only within our clinic, but throughout our entire community.

During this time, we kindly ask for your patience, understanding, and support. There may be temporary adjustments to our schedule as we navigate the days ahead. Please know we are making every effort to minimize disruption while also allowing our team the space needed to grieve.

We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive community. Your kindness and understanding mean more than words can express during this difficult time. 🤍🌈

With heartfelt gratitude,
Muriel Leas, DVM

Today marks Day of Giving, a 24-hour effort to support the people and programs that shape Ohio State’s future.

This year, we’re highlighting our Shelter and Community Medicine fund, which supports shelter medicine externships for students while expanding community access to care. Veterinary students gain real-world experience in shelters across Ohio through seven-week externships that focus on animal intake, adoption processes and performing spay and neuter surgeries.

The college will also host community clinic days, bringing low-cost veterinary services to underserved pet owners — helping every pet receive the care they deserve.
