We always have dogs and cats, but sometimes we have ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, goats, and horses! (includes spay/neuter, microchipping, deworming, basic shots, and flea treatment)
Cat/kitten adoption fee: $50 (includes spay/neuter, deworming, shots, and flea treatment)
We have a low cost spay/neuter program for those on any form of government assistance. Cat spay or neuter is $50. and Dog spay or neuter is $70. (up to 65pounds)!

🐾 END OF THE MONTH SHELTER STATS 🐾

As we wrap up another busy month at the Columbus Lowndes Humane Society, we want to thank our amazing community for helping us care for local animals in need. ❤️

📊 This Month We Had:
🐾 250 animals taken in
🏠 32 adoptions completed
❤️ 20 pets reunited with their owners
🚐 50 dogs sent on rescue transport trips for a second chance at finding loving homes

Every adoption, donation, volunteer hour, foster home, and share helps save lives. We truly could not do this without the support of our community.

While these numbers show progress, our shelter remains full at 104 dogs and 88 cats and the need for help never stops. If you would like to support our mission, please consider:

Doberman Lovers! 🥰 Meet FOUR! 👋🏽 Four was surrendered by his owners due to them not having enough time for him—that’s a topic for another post. 😵‍💫 Today’s focus is FOUR! 🐕

Four is a 10 month old, neutered male who is pure DOBERMAN! With proper introductions, he gets along with other dogs. Being one of the smartest —and most ACTIVE— breeds in existence, we are going to require Doberman experience for our applicants❣️

UPDATE!!!! OUR BOY HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, our Doodle— Dewey— was a HUGE HIT when we posted him earlier this month! 🥳Dewey got so much love, so many comments and leads, tons of shares and several people even came to meet him— yet Dewey is still with us at the shelter. 😔 We know Dewey’s forever family is somewhere out there … we just haven’t found them yet! 🏡 🐾 ❤️

Dewey the Doodle needs a special family who will be happily prepared for his lifetime grooming needs! 💇🏽‍♂️✂️ 💈

Dewey is BIG so small dog lovers need not apply! At 80lbs, Dewey is much larger than he appears in the photos! 🐕

Dewey has heart worms —which is treatable—but often times, that responsibility scares possible adopters off. ❤️🪱❤️‍🩹

Getting ready to pull out with 10 of our SUPERSTAR 🤩 DOGS 🐕 heading to our dear friends and beloved rescue partners, rascals 🐕🚐🏡 We are infinitely GRATEFUL for our phenomenal partners; truly don’t know what we’d do without them! 🌟❤️💫

So far this month at the CLHS, we’ve already gotten in 120 animals (78 dogs, 42 cats) and there is never a break of oncoming animals—whether they are coming in through animal control, being left at the gate, found by Good Samaritans or being surrendered. ❤️‍🩹

We cannot stress enough the importance of SPAY and NEUTER‼️ We offer low cost spay neuter here at the shelter, and our neighbor, Oktibbeha County Humane Society, does as well. 🙏🏽
