HAPPY COMMUNITY CAT DAY!

Today, we're celebrating the cats who call Muscogee County home and the incredible work being done to help them!

Since January 2026, Paws Humane Society's Community Cat Program has performed OVER 1,750 spay and neuter surgeries for community cats in Muscogee County!

That's more than 1,750 cats who will no longer contribute to the cycle of unwanted litters, helping prevent countless kittens from entering an already overwhelmed shelter system.

Through our Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) program, we're working to humanely manage community cat populations and create a healthier future for cats and people alike.

1,750+ surgeries. Countless future litters prevented. A lasting impact right here in Muscogee County.

We're incredibly grateful for the staff, volunteers, caregivers, and community members who make this important work possible!

ELLIE IS STILL HERE. HOW?!

We are genuinely baffled that this incredible girl is STILL waiting for her forever home!

Ellie is the ultimate Velcro dog! She's affectionate, cuddly, outgoing, and wants nothing more than to be with her people. Whether it's car rides, walks, making dog friends, or giving kisses, Ellie is ready to be your best friend through it all!

She's playful, full of personality, and has never met a stranger she didn't want to love on! She'd thrive with someone who spends plenty of time at home and wants a four-legged shadow following them everywhere.

Ellie has spent time in foster care, and we KNOW just how wonderful she is. Now we just need everyone else to see it!

Seriously, how has this amazing girl not been scooped up yet?!

Ellie is ready to give someone her whole heart. Could that someone be YOU?

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE NUMBERS.

Last week was another incredibly busy week at Paws Humane Society and Animal Services, and these numbers tell an important story.

In just seven days:

92 stray animals entered our care.
73 animals were placed into foster homes.
42 animals found their forever homes.
10 dogs were reunited with their families.
2 dogs were transferred to rescue partners.
194 spay/neuter surgeries were performed.

There is so much to celebrate, but 92 stray animals entering our care in just ONE WEEK is a number we cannot ignore.

Our teams, foster families, adopters, and rescue partners are working tirelessly to help animals find their way into loving homes. Yet the number of animals coming through our doors continues to put tremendous pressure on our resources.

Every adoption matters. Every foster placement matters. Every reunion matters.
But we also need to address why so many animals are entering our care in the first place.

Spay and neuter your pets. Keep identification and microchip information current. Help lost animals find their families. Adopt or foster if you're able.

We can celebrate the lives being changed while recognizing that there is still so much work ahead of us.

Halloween Pet & Family Photos Benefiting Paws Humane Society
Get those costumes ready! Join us at The Yard for a spooky-cute afternoon of Halloween photos for your pets, your family, or the whole crew!

📅 Sunday, October 18
⏰ 12:00–4:00 PM
📍 The Yard | 1432 5th Ave, Columbus, GA 31901
📸 $10 donation to Paws Humane Society per photo session

No pre-registration required! Cash or card will be accepted the day of the event. Be prepared to wait in line!

We’ll have a staged Halloween photo area set up OUTSIDE of The Yard, so you do not need to purchase Yard admission or have a Yard membership to participate in the photo event.

🎃 PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU COME:
📸 HALLOWEEN PHOTOS | $10 DONATION
The $10 donation is specifically for your Halloween photo session and benefits Paws Humane Society. This does not include admission into The Yard.

🐾 WANT TO ENTER THE YARD WITH YOUR DOG?
After your photos, you’re welcome to stay and enjoy The Yard! Humans always enter FREE. Dogs must meet The Yard’s entry requirements and have a membership or purchase a $15 day pass per dog.

🐶 ALREADY A YARD MEMBER?
Your Yard membership covers your dog’s regular admission into The Yard, but does not include the Halloween photo session. Members who would like Halloween photos will still make the $10 donation to Paws Humane Society.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 JUST COMING FOR PHOTOS?
That’s perfectly fine! Because the photo area will be located outside The Yard, you can come for your photo without purchasing a Yard day pass.
Costumes are encouraged but not required, and pets AND people are welcome in the photos!

🐾 $15 Dog Day Pass = Admission to The Yard
👥 Humans = FREE admission to The Yard

Not every pet looking for a new family is living at Paws Humane Society. Through our Neighborhood Pets page, local pet owners can connect with potential adopters and work to find loving new homes for pets they can no longer care for.

🌧️ PUPS & PILATES POSTPONED! 🐾

Unfortunately, due to the anticipated weather conditions, we've made the decision to postpone our Pups & Pilates event scheduled for Saturday, October 10 at The Yard.

We're so sorry for the last-minute change! We were looking forward to seeing everyone and their pups, but we want to make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience.

Good news! Your registration can be used for either of our upcoming Pups & Pilates sessions:

This is an ALL-AGES show with FREE admission for people, bringing together live punk music, dogs, costumes, and a whole lot of fun—all while supporting the animals at Paws Humane Society.
