The more I meet with our legislators, the more I know they are not aware of the safety concerns farmers and ranchers have when under high voltage transmission lines. Some do not realize stray voltage ( power) is a real thing or to what extent it can happen. About a year ago, I had a client lose two registered 600 pound black bull calves. Temperature, humidity, ground conditions, time of day, voltage readings, and necropsies were performed to prove electrocution deaths from the Blackberry line they were found under. Evergy's response was no fault. Now the producer has to go to court to receive compensation from the transmission company. I am trying to get a law in place where we don't have to go to court to receive acknowledgement and compensation for damages received under these lines. Personal stories write laws. If you have felt anything from a static electricity zap to a jolt that hurt or scared you, please send me your story, name, phone #, county of exposure, and the transmission line name ( if you know it ). Even if you weren't shocked but had concerns of your pacemaker being hit under those lines. We have 1 to 2 weeks to give this information to our legislators to have a chance of making this law this year. Thanks, Dr Gregory

Update on Dr. Gregory's dad, Lynn: no body or remnant of clothing was ever found throughout the extensive searching of hundreds of official and volunteer individuals. All those efforts were well appreciated , as well as the countless prayers. Due to the unique circumstances a memorial service was delayed, but has been set for April 26 at 11 AM in the Labette County High School cafeteria. ( That is in Altamont.) My sister Kolette noted that initial rescuers were a bit unequiped for the situation. A fund has been set up at Labette Bank (any location) as "LA\ Emergency Response Fund". The donations will go toward the purchase of an underwater drone with ultrasound and camera that can be used in high speed water rescue or recovery. Plans are for it to be kept in a central location in SE Kansas to be available for multiple counties. We are at peace and have faith that are father is gone from this earth and in heaven. We do not wish for any other family to wonder where their family member's body is after disappearing in a water tragedy. Other contributions can be through The Gideons International memorial bible donations. Nothing is asked of anyone. I am merely trying to satisfy requests. All are welcome to the memorial.

Doc's Dad was swept off a low water bridge at his home property S of Altamont on Tuesday when a wall of water swept his hay trailer and tractor off into Elm Creek. The crippled 82 year old man kept the tractor on it's wheels. Then he got out to walk the bridge to safety but the water was too fast and too cold. 3 days of extensive searches by Fish and Game was called off today. They cleared 6 miles with no evidence using walkers, divers, drones, and dogs. They gave us the release to allow individual volunteers to search. Boats, drones, or walkers from Hackberry Creek to Grand Lake. We don't expect a decent site.
