🐾 IMPORTANT HOURS & APPOINTMENT UPDATE 🐾

Dear Northside Animal Hospital Clients,
We’re preparing to transition to a new medical records system, so our appointment availability will be reduced from September 21–October 4 while our team trains and adjusts. We appreciate your patience and understanding! 💙

📅 Important Dates:

• Monday, Sept. 21: CLOSED until 1:00 PM for staff training. We’ll reopen for scheduled appointments, but NO evening urgent care (5–10 PM).

• Tuesday, Sept. 22: Regular daytime appointments, but NO evening urgent care (5–10 PM).

• Wednesday, Sept. 23 onward: Evening urgent care resumes 5–10 PM, but capacity may be limited and visits may take a little longer than usual.

💊 Medication Refills: Please request refills as early as possible. If possible, pick up completed prescriptions before 11 AM on Saturday, Sept. 19.

We know transitions can come with a few bumps, and we truly appreciate your patience, kindness, and extra grace as our team learns the new system. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible while continuing to provide excellent care for your pets. 🐶🐱

Spaying and neutering is one of the simplest things we can do to help pets live healthier lives. It can prevent serious infections, reduce the risk of certain cancers, eliminate the health risks that come with pregnancy and birth, and help cut down on roaming and other behaviors that can put pets in danger.

And while the health benefits are a huge reason we care so much about this, every surgery also means one less accidental litter adding to the number of animals already needing homes in our community.

We want people to have more healthy years with the pets they love, and we want fewer animals to ever need rescuing in the first place. Spaying and neutering helps do both at once.

DON’T MISS THE FINE PRINT: While our programs have recently been limited to Columbus/Muscogee County residents, we still want to help our neighbors however we can! We will continue to offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries for just $100 to residents of any county, as well as Columbus/Muscogee County residents who have already reached the two-pet limit offered through our free programs. A little perspective from the other side of the exam room, in response to comments we (and every other clinic) have gotten in response to not being able to see your pet.

When we tell you we cannot see your pet today, it is not because we don't care. It isn't because we only want to see healthy pets. It isn't because we don't want to help. Sometimes, we are simply full.

One doctor can only safely care for so many patients in a day. Our team can only work so many hours. There are hospitalized patients, emergencies, surgeries, appointments scheduled weeks in advance, and a hundred things happening behind the scenes that you don't see.

And believe me, we still try. We squeeze people in. We stay late. We skip lunch. We move things around. We do everything we can. Saying “no” is hard for us, too. Ask the staff - I'm the first one to try and squeeze in "just one more." But sometimes, there simply isn't another appointment to give.

So please don't mistake our inability to see another patient for a lack of compassion. If that were the case, we probably wouldn't have a full schedule to begin with. It is because we have reached the limit of what we can safely and responsibly do that day.

Veterinary medicine is incredibly rewarding, but it is also exhausting and emotionally demanding. There are real people on the other side of that phone who are already giving everything they have that day. Real people who care, probably more than you realize.

Be frustrated with the situation if you need to be - but please don't take it out on the people trying their hardest to care for your pets.
