Mango our newest resident Bobcat getting used to being outside. Mango was abandoned by his mom back in 2024, he was one of four kittens born in someone’s yard and after the litter was discovered by the homeowner the mom moved three kittens but left one and never returned to get him. A rehabber rescued him and after a some visits with a vet he was diagnosed with autism. After 18 months we were contacted by the rehabber and asked if we would take him in and being the animal lovers that we are we couldn’t say no. He lived in the zoo owners house for several months where he got to hang out with the dogs, the owner and staff while we figured out a good location for his new exhibit. He’s now been outdoors for several weeks and he’s been embracing it, stalking birds and squirrels and really wanting to play in his new pool but he’s still a bit skittish when he gets wet it’s hilarious how he can act like a little diva. We’re working to add various levels and platforms in his enclosure because he loves to jump and climb but we’re even more excited that he was rescued in the first place and got a chance to live a full and stimulating life.

July 16th is World Snake Day woohoo!!!🥳🥳🥳
Here’s a shot of the coolest and cutest snake species in Colorado County the one everyone loves to see put on a show. They roll over, they play dead, they hood up like a cobra, they open their mouth to try and look scary, anything to make you leave them alone awwwww❤️
Spotted this cutie coiled up on a road soaking up some heat and just had to take a quick photo.

The pretty boy Butterscotch with a look of anticipation just hoping I have a big ole rat for him to snack on. This beauty is an albino Western Diamondback and at 17 he’s one of our oldest snakes. He’s 5 1/2’ long, he never rattles, he never hides he just sits out in the open and waits to be fed which happens 2-3 times per month. His rattle broke a few yrs back otherwise he would have over 30 buttons and contrary to what some folks believe the rattle does not determine the age. A rattlesnake can get up to 10 buttons their first year , it happens everytime they shed their skin but after the first year it will slow down to 2-5 times per year give or take. If you’d like to see or learn more about these beautiful and very misunderstood animals then come on out and take the Serpentarium tour, we make learning fun!

It ain’t pretty but it is pretty awesome. Our Pygmy Goat Blizzard gave birth to twins today and they’re doing fantastic! She even had an audience of ducks, pigs and a dozen visitors watching quietly in anticipation. This is her first time giving birth but she handled it like a pro❤️These cuties can be seen in the petting zoo all weekend and beyond🥳
