Field day Friday:
This week's field day is a unique one. This is a tinctorius that was photographed in the wild. What type do you think it is?... You'd probably think it is a Citronella, remarkably a no-spot Citronella in the wild. But the truth is this animal was photographed well within French Guiana whereas Citronella are from Suriname. Without revealing too much locality information, this specimen is 50-60 miles away from the Suriname border so far-far away from Suriname. It seems like the Citronella & Nikita phenotypes have a rather large range along the southern border region where the two countries meet.

Ever seen a more gorgeous Brazilian Yellow Head? 😍 I am totally in love with these! I am so excited to bring some of the Euro lines into the USA hobby to reinvigorate this morph and add some of that natural variation back in. The original US line descends from a single pair of frogs that have been in**ed for far too many generations in my opinion. I have just shipped out many of the offspring from my Dutch line and now I am starting to get eggs from this German male pictured here. Stay tuned!

I just can't get over how beautiful this morph is! Especially considering it may have been considered "common" in the past (I'd argue not so much anymore). Those bright yellow highlights contrasted with that beautiful, light, sky blue. Patricia are truly a gem of the rainforest. Luckily several of this female's F1 babies are available now, ready to make their mark on the hobby!

Field day Friday:
This week's field day is a rarely photographed morph in my opinion. Pictured here is a tinc, as seen in the wild, from French Guiana, right on the border of Suriname along the Rio Lawa. This morph was originally introduced to the USA hobby by Marcus Breece of Simply Natural Dart Frogs and further propagated by Sean Stewart, but we do not see too much of this morph. It has a few different names such as "Yellow Siplaiwini" or just "Lawa". Such a lucky find to see this morph in the wild!

Here is one of the "mainstays" of the tinctorius locales. You can never go wrong with the Green Sipaliwini. Just a naturally pleasing site to behold and not too flashy as some of the others. I just love that gorgeous lime green!

One of my favorites of all the tinctorius - the Koetari River! Still a rather rare morph in the hobby and not frequently available; probably due to being rather seasonal breeders (at least in my own experience). This is one type I am always excited about and devoted to working with. We luckily are managing two unrelated lines to disperse to the hobby. Pictured here is my beautiful male from the Under the Canopy Farms (UTC) line. Many of his offspring are available now!

Today's Field Day Friday is from a fairly well-known "Yellowback"-type locality in French Guiana. This one is from Maripasoula which is just across the Suriname-French Guiana border. This type was once imported by Simply Natural Dart Frogs but it apparently not too many seem to be around anymore. These are very nice dart frogs!

Here is one of the female Brazilian Yellow Heads (BYH) we are working with at Tinc Tank. Female BYH tend to be less flashy than the males such as the males have those obvious white toe tips and light blue digits. This female however is stunner in my opinion. Nice crisp colors and a flash of white/sky blue on the sides and belly. This one comes from Germany. I look forward to getting some reproduction from this pair!

One of the first ever tinctorius morphs in the hobby, this is the original "Cobalt". 30 years ago it was the "French Guiana Dwarf Cobalt" in the USA. In Europe it had a few other names such as "Nominate". The type we are working with at Tinc Tank has known locality information so we refer to them as "Kaw Mountain". These are the smallest tinctorius morph we work with. Truly diminutive, it is amazing to see them produce so many eggs while other tinc morphs would need to grow 2-3 times their size until they can produce eggs. Its always fascinating to study the degree of variability in tinctorius populations.

Today's Field Day Friday is a lesser well-known locality from Serra Do Navio in Amapa, Brazil. Brazil always seems to be the "new frontier" for tinctorius morphs even if many types have already been known for decades. This one here appears to be near the "Weygoldt" locality.

Such a gorgeous frog. Patricia are truly a unique tinctorius and one type I am proud to work with at Tinc Tank. We have been raising up quite a few of these and are happy to offer some well-started F1 babies from this gorgeous pair.
