💙 CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY AT SHELBY HUMANE! 💚

Sometimes, all it takes is an idea to make a BIG difference! 🐾

Wendy Cain, a Chick-Fil-A employee, recently put out a simple Facebook post asking for donations for the animals at Shelby Humane, and the community response was nothing short of incredible!

“The response was overwhelming,” Wendy shared. “Day one, I had customers giving me cash. I had customers bringing in just bags and bags and bags of things.”

With the support of her customers and generous people throughout the Alabaster, Oak Mountain and surrounding communities, Wendy collected an amazing assortment of much-needed supplies for our shelter pets, including:

🧺 Approximately 175 blankets
🛁 More than 200 towels
🐶 Dog toys, bowls and rawhides
💚 Cone collars and other essential supplies

“We have the best customers,” Wendy said. “But it wasn’t just our customers, too. It was also a lot of the community … just a lot of good people.”

Wendy and her supporters delivered a van full of donations to Shelby Humane, bringing comfort, enrichment and a little extra love to the animals in our care. (Van supplied by Metro Storage 119).

Wendy, thank you for following your heart and inspiring so many others to do the same! And to everyone who donated, shared the post or helped make this possible, thank you for showing our shelter pets just how much their community cares. 💙💚

🚨Shelby Humane is currently over capacity, and we’re reaching out to our rescue community for help. 🚨

Now is a great time for rescues to pull dogs from our shelter and help them find their next chapter!

We are always looking to build relationships with new rescue partners, and we would love to connect with organizations that may be able to help. Every dog pulled opens up space and gives us the opportunity to help another animal in need.

We’re also looking to grow our network for northern transports. Any connections anyone might have to help us get our animals to a rescue opportunity beyond Alabama!

If you’re a rescue, know a rescue, or are interested in helping with transport, we would love to hear from you! This is an ongoing need, and we’re always happy to make new connections.

Please email Christin Miller at [email protected] or call 205-669-3916.

AND AS ALWAYS - Thank you to the rescues and transporters who continue to work alongside us. Your partnership makes a real difference for these animals.

Thanks Alabama's 42 for featuring us on the news today!

Shelby Humane Society is caring for more dogs and cats than it is equipped to house, as adoptions slow down and the number of animals coming into the shelter continues to rise.
