Meet Maya! ❤️

At 2-years-old and 45 pounds, Maya is a beautiful girl with a gentle soul who is looking for someone willing to give her a little time and a lot of love. Shelter life can be overwhelming for a shy dog, and Maya can seem scared and unsure when you first meet her. But don't let her kennel behavior fool you—it is not an accurate representation of the wonderful dog she truly is.

Once Maya feels safe and comfortable, her sweet personality begins to shine. She loves being close to her people and is happiest curled up beside you or even snuggled in your lap. This affectionate girl forms strong bonds and will gladly be your best friend.

Maya is gentle, easygoing, and walks nicely on a leash, making her a wonderful partner for peaceful strolls and quiet afternoons together. She simply needs a patient adopter who will help her build confidence and show her that the world isn't such a scary place.

Maya is currently heartworm positive, but heartworms are not contagious, and the shelter will cover the cost of her treatment.

UPDATE- Pinkie Pie has been found!

Pinkie Pie is a 3-year-old Pit Bull mix from Shelby Humane who went missing a few days ago while on a Weekend Warrior stay with a family in Alabaster. She was last seen at 6:30 p.m. on Fulton Springs Road in Alabaster.
Pinkie Pie is a very sweet dog who does well with other dogs. She can be a little shy, so if you see her, please approach calmly and avoid chasing her, as that may cause her to run.
