🐾 ONE WEEK UNTIL SCACCA CONNECT!

We’re officially ONE WEEK AWAY from our first SCACCA CONNECT! regional meet-up — and there’s still time to get registered!

We already have more than 20 agencies from across South Carolina represented on the registration list, with more signing up every day. We’re excited to bring together animal care and control professionals from across the state for a day of learning, conversation, and connection.

📅 Wednesday, September 16 | 10 AM–3 PM
📍 Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Training Center

We’ve built the day around practical information, meaningful conversation, and connecting with others who understand the challenges of animal care and control.

⚖️ Liabilities in Animal Placement

Join us for a 45-minute interactive discussion about the decisions shelters make when placing animals and the liability considerations that come with them.

🦠 Parvovirus & TruTect Lunch & Learn

Our event sponsor, Elanco, will provide training on Parvovirus and TruTect — and lunch is provided by Elanco!

💬 Afternoon Roundtables — YOUR Topics, YOUR Conversations

We just announced our roundtable topics in our last post! Check them out here:
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CwAUakPHG/

These discussions will focus on issues SCACCA members have told us are important to their work right now. This is your chance to sit down with colleagues from other agencies, compare approaches, ask questions, share what’s working, and maybe find a solution to something your team has been struggling with.

🤝 Sometimes the best resource we have is each other.

🎟️ And one attendee will walk away with a FREE registration to CarolinasUNITE 2027!

SCACCA members AND non-members are welcome.

👉 One week to go — scan the QR code on the flyer and register today!

Already registered? Share this post and invite another animal care and control professional to join you!

🐾 Today is National Dog Walker Appreciation Day!

Across South Carolina shelters, volunteer dog walkers do so much more than take dogs outside for a quick walk. They provide exercise, enrichment, fresh air, socialization, and a much-needed break from the kennel — all while helping dogs feel happier, healthier, and more ready to meet their future families.

To every volunteer who grabs a leash, puts on their walking shoes, and gives a shelter dog some one-on-one time: thank you. Your time matters, and so do you. 💙

South Carolina shelters, take a moment today to celebrate your dog walkers! Share a photo, tag your volunteers, and let them know how much their contribution means to your animals and your team.

🐕‍🦺 Drop a photo of your dog-walking crew in the comments — we’d love to celebrate them with you!

🐾 THIS LABOR DAY, WE’RE CELEBRATING THE PEOPLE WHO NEVER STOP SHOWING UP.

Animal care and control is work that happens 365 days a year. Animals still need to be fed. Kennels still need to be cleaned. Medical treatments still need to happen. Calls still come in. Emergencies don’t check the calendar before they happen.

Across South Carolina, animal control officers, kennel and animal care teams, veterinary professionals, dispatchers, adoption and foster teams, administrative staff, volunteers, and countless others are doing work that is often physically demanding, emotionally challenging, and largely unseen by the public.

And on holidays like today, while many people get a well-deserved day off, we know plenty of you are still at the shelter, in the clinic, or out in the field.

SCACCA sees you — and today, we celebrate you. 💙

Thank you for the early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, emergency calls, difficult decisions, compassion, teamwork, and dedication you bring to your communities every day.

🐶🐱 Happy Labor Day from SCACCA — especially to everyone working today.

👇 If someone on your team is spending their Labor Day caring for animals or serving your community, give them a shout-out in the comments!

💙🐾 TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHARITY!

In animal welfare, we see the power of generosity every single day — and it doesn’t always come with a dollar sign.

It’s the person who donates supplies or funds when a shelter needs help.

It’s the volunteer who gives up a Saturday morning.

It’s the foster who makes room for one more.

It’s the rescue partner who says, “We can take them.”

It’s the businesses and organizations that sponsor programs, events, and resources that otherwise might not be possible.

And it’s the countless people who simply see a need and ask, “How can I help?”

Across South Carolina, charitable support helps animal shelters and animal control agencies stretch limited resources further, try new solutions, support pet owners in their communities, and ultimately help more animals.

On International Day of Charity, SCACCA wants to recognize everyone who gives their time, talent, resources, voice, and heart to this work.

You may never know the full ripple effect of what you give — but we can promise you, it matters.

💚 Thank you for being part of a community that shows up.

Tag a person, business, rescue, volunteer, donor, or organization that has made a difference for your agency so we can celebrate them today! 👇
