Weekend Recap! 🐾
River City Bullies officially made our UKC debut, and it did not disappoint! We took the RV up for an action-packed, 3-day, 6-show weekend and had an absolute blast.

The Highlights:
🏆 Estelle brought her A-game! I dropped the ball on getting ribbon photos 😣, but she’s officially bringing home points toward her Championship title—including two Group 3 wins! Special thanks to Judge Paul Breneau and Helena Engelauf.
✨ Eve made her official ring debut and looked absolutely flawless. She even snagged a few points of her own to start her tracking!
💪 Eden is officially a powerhouse! She and Eve tried out the weight pull practice, and Eden is a total natural.
Honestly, the UKC experience was so refreshing. I love that the platform judges the “Total Dog”—focusing not just on aesthetic standards, but on sound minds and athletic bodies. Our dogs are capable of amazing things, and we love getting to showcase that versatility.
We’re already counting down to the next show! 🙌🐕

Estelle is a stunning specimen that exhibits the epitome of a beautiful French Bulldog with fluid movement, a gorgeous expression with round eyes, a broad square chest, and a muscular and compact frame.

She has a sound, sweet temperament while still having a great presence in the show ring and drive for sports.

Her RFGS Grade of 0 for PERFECT BREATHING on top of all her other wonderful qualities makes Estelle the complete package!

She earned her ABKC Champion title at 18 months old and we are just getting started

We hope to see her first litter at the start of 2027!

This win hits a little differently because it’s my very first title as an owner-handler. I walked into the ring knowing absolutely nothing about dog shows, just a willingness to learn and a love for this girl. Watching it all come together has been the most rewarding challenge.

What’s next for our girl 💖

The schedule is packed:
• Next up: Start chasing the dual champion title at a UKC show in a few weeks!
• Summer: Chasing that Grand Champion title at two ABKC shows
• Fall: Fast CAT and Fetch titles.
• Winter: Retirement mode & puppy prep for her first litter! 🍼

The French Bulldog Foundation of America is honored to share a unique opportunity with our community.

In early May, our Board of Directors will be interviewing Dr. Kari Ekenstedt, DVM, PhD, an Associate Professor of Anatomy & Genetics at Purdue University and head of Purdue’s Canine Genetics Laboratory. Her work focuses on canine genetics and genetic disease research, including both inherited conditions and more complex health traits in dogs.

This conversation will include discussion surrounding the current French Bulldog spine study at Purdue, along with broader topics such as DNA, genetics, and French Bulldog health. Purdue’s Canine Genetics Lab describes its work as partnering with pet owners, veterinarians, researchers, and dogs to solve genetic diseases, while also helping support responsible breeding decisions through genetic testing.

Dr. Ekenstedt’s background makes this an especially valuable opportunity for breeders, owners, and breed advocates who want to better understand questions such as:

- what current research may teach us about French Bulldog spinal health,
- how genetics and inheritance actually apply in real-world breeding decisions,
- where DNA testing is helpful, and where it does not tell the full story,
- and what responsible health-focused progress could look like for the breed going forward.

Very excited to be able to say Estelle is an RFG Grade 0 (Clinically Unaffected) French Bulldog! 🏆

What does a 0 mean? It means she showed zero clinical signs of respiratory issues. In a world where many think it’s “normal” for Frenchies to pant heavily or struggle with exercise, Estelle is here to break the stigma.
We are committed to turning the table on brachycephalic health. It’s not enough to be cute; they deserve to be healthy, active, and able to run for miles.
Thank you for putting the important things first and creating such a healthy girl.
