We always have dogs and cats, but if you stop by the shelter soon and you think you hear a sheep, you aren't wrong! We currently have 11 goats, 11 sheep, 2 turkeys and 45 chickens looking for new homes. 🐐🐑🦃🐔

*FAQs*
- We are putting a limit on 4 sheep/goats per home
- Adoptions are first come, first serve and you have to be here in person for the goats and sheep. The chickens are in foster care
-$50 adoption fees on the sheep/goats, $5 for birds

We do not know what specific breeds the animals are.

We are taking the application offline for the moment as we have received an overwhelming applications and calls! 💚🐾

Thank you to everyone that participated in our Rent-a-Pup event today! We got all the dogs available out of the shelter and they had a nice day away while the staff cleaned. 💚🐾

Today's featured pet is Apple Blossom! 🍎

This sweet girl was terrified of everything when she first arrived at the shelter. After spending some time in foster, she has really blossomed!

Her foster says "Apple Blossom is a sweet girl who loves belly rubs and cuddles. She is a quick learner and is working on a number of commands. She is nervous in new situations and around strangers but quickly warms up to her people, though she is more cautious around men." 🐾

We will be closed Sunday August 30th for a deep clean and staff training day. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

For those that have signed up for our Rent a Pup event that day, we do currently have more sign ups than dogs, which is amazing, but please keep in mind we may not have a dog for everyone that shows up. We promise it's a good "problem" to have!

Happy National Dog Day! 💚🐾 We love dogs here every day, but today we want to feature a very special boy named Winston.

Winston has been in our care since early July as part of a neglect case. When he arrived, he only weighed 28 pounds and his body was covered in sores from all his matted fur. We got him shaved, started on medication and on a controlled feeding schedule.

Today he weighs 45 pounds and, while he still has some healing to go, he is officially ready for adoption! 🏠

It's and today we're focusing on our pet food pantry. 💚🐾

In case you didn't know, our community pet food pantry provides pet food temporarily for those in need. With the cost of nearly everything on the rise, we never want to see pets go hungry or their families forced to surrender simply because they need a little help.

Our pantry is stocked entirely by donations from those in our community. Whether you have a half used bag sitting at home that your pet didn't like or you have the extra funds to grab a bag or two, any donation helps!

On Sunday August 30th we will be closed so we can do our annual deep clean day. We are hoping to get as many of our dogs out of the building as possible so our Doggy Day Out program is opening up to the public for the day!

Want to participate? Follow the steps below! ✅

1: Sign our Volunteer Guest Agreement (please make sure to note "rent-a-pup day" as who you're volunteering with on the form)

2: Arrive at the shelter at 9 am.

3: Gather your supplies and head out!
You can go for a walk, visit dog-friendly places or hang out at home if you don't have a dog of our own!

💚 FAQs 💚
🐾 Can I bring the shelter dog to play with my dog?
Not for this event. Due to liability reasons, we are not allowing our dogs to interact with members of the public's dogs and this includes going to the dog park.

🐾 Do I get to pick out which dog I want to take?
Dogs will be on a first come, first served basis. Our staff will match you up with a dog that you'll be able to handle. Keep in mind the majority of our dogs are over 35 #.

🐾 Do you have an age restriction?
Anyone 10-17 has to have a parent/legal guardian with them at all times. We are not able to accommodate children under 10 for this event.

🐾 What if I can't make the event?
No worries! Our Doggy Day Out program is open for our official volunteers almost every day of the week! You can sign up at cmhspets.org/volunteer
