Meet Moxie! We’re currently working with this beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer for progesterone monitoring to help determine the optimal timing for breeding.
There’s so much more that goes into thoughtfully breeding working dogs than simply producing the next litter. Preserving a working breed means protecting the traits that generations before us worked hard to establish… sound structure, temperament, natural ability, drive, endurance, and the instincts that allow these dogs to do the jobs they were bred to do.
The German Shorthaired Pointer has a rich working history, developed in Germany during the 1800s as a versatile hunting dog capable of pointing and retrieving game and working both on land and in water. Their athleticism, intelligence, stamina, and willingness to work have helped make the GSP an enduring and highly valued sporting breed.
Responsible breeding takes planning, testing, careful selection, and plenty of patience. Progesterone monitoring is one small but important piece of that process, helping owners make informed decisions about timing while working toward the larger goal: preserving the health, ability, and working heritage of these remarkable dogs for generations to come.
