I went to get in bed and he was sitting there staring at me blocking my path. I just wanted bed, but his body language said no. I offered a 2 hand choice, "Curi want bite brushing? Yes or no."

He very quickly nose nudged the yes hand.

Curiosity likes everything tidy, and that includes his teeth. He didn't want me going to bed skipping his "bite brushing."

I used to always give him a choice of 2 flavors/brands. He always chose the same one, so we no longer buy other flavors. Curi's preferred toothpaste? CET Vanilla Mint.

Curi jumped up and ran across the house barking. I called after him, "Curi! What are you doing?"

He came back over to the buttons quietly, head hung low. "Bad."

"That's right. That was bad."

He then went to rest in a dog bed, and I brought him a treat for making a good choice and being calm and quiet.

I much prefer this to the ecollar training with my first schnauzer more than 20 years ago, and I think Curi is happier about this arrangement too. Still, it is weird to sit down and talk about making good and bad choices with a dog as though he's a toddler.

Do not skip the Curi check!

I told Curi's breeder I wanted a giant schnauzer absolutely obsessed with his nose as I need a service dog for a 24/7 scentwork job, and that's exactly what I got. Curi needs to sniff check every item as it enters the home. Do not skip the sniff check!

Sometimes I sneak things in and otherwise just move items around while he's in his kennel or the backyard to mess with him. He goes to sniff the changed or new items BEFORE he greets me even. The sniff check map of every item in our home is that important.

Curiosity is absolutely obsessed with giving everything a sniff check. Spy will come right over and sniff if you invite her to, but she lacks Curi's obsessive nature about it.

As for the package, it has a munched corner of the packaging but seems to be ok. It's a tea advent calendar for December! I'm trying to get to 1200 teas sampled and rated by the New Year, and now I have enough on hand to do it! As of today, I have sampled 1161 unique coffees and teas, but mostly teas.

If you want to join us, this year we're doing the Stash Tea advent calendar. I have previously sampled 53 Stash teas, but I think these are all unique seasonal blends. Exciting!

I let Curi know we would be watching a movie tonight. He has cried, yawned, panted, and his eyes keep flicking up toward the ceiling even though I haven't even plugged in the projector.

For those new here, Kaia had been Curi's best friend since he was 7 weeks old. She was just shy of 14 years old when we had to say goodbye in August. Curiosity talks about her daily. Tonight I tried playing him old reels with her in them, and that seemed to be "good."

It's Curiosity's birthday! He turns 4 years old today. So far he has had bones balls, ring fetch with his beloved Gitit Toys - epic fetch toys for dogs then pool time to recover from so much running, and Pupcicles filled with the bougie wet dog food.

Shh, we have people food (chicken) for training games treats this afternoon too! He's having a pretty good day!

Curiosity has enjoyed being true to his schnauzer roots by being a proper farm dog today. We spent the morning weaving rugs for the shop. We harvested and roasted the first pumpkin out of the garden and turned it into puree. Spy ate some pumpkin. Curi's not a fan.

Then Curi and I drove into Black Forest to meet up with a 4H mom who needed to give away some alpaca fiber. Curi got to hang his head out the window soaking up the aroma of the forest, and then he got to bury his face in smelly wools!

While I skirted and sorted the fiber, a dozen bikes went past and Curi got to chase them away along the length of our fence before we hit the garden and brought in 170 more pieces of produce. 100 items were peppers. So much for being caught up on pepper processing!

I've only got 4 mesh zipper bags for laundry items, so from now until eternity, I'll be washing alpaca fiber, 4 bags at a time, in the laundry room sink.
