One of the best things as a veterinarian is seeing pets you helped live through something many years ago doing their thing today. His is making muffins.

Prevention is the best medicine! 🐾✨

We all want our furry family members to live long, happy, and healthy lives. The secret? Staying ahead of the game with routine preventative care! Just like us, regular checkups and healthy habits keep our pets feeling their absolute best.

Here are 4 essential pillars of preventative care for your pet:

🩺 Annual Wellness Exams: Routine checkups help us spot subtle changes in your pet’s health before they become big problems.

🛡️ Vaccines & Parasite Prevention: Keeping up with flea, tick, heartworm, and vaccine schedules protects them from preventable (and nasty) diseases.

🦷 Dental Care: Healthy teeth mean a healthy heart! Routine dental cleanings and at-home brushing prevent painful buildup and infection.

🥗 Nutrition & Exercise: A balanced diet and daily activity keep their joints nimble and weight in a healthy zone.

Is your pet due for their yearly checkup or a prevention refill? We’re here to help!

🎆 After the fireworks: give your pets a little extra TLC today 🐾

The Fourth of July can be stressful for many pets, and some may still feel anxious, tired, or out of sorts the next day.

Today is a great day to:
✔️ Check your yard and home for firework debris
✔️ Make sure gates, doors, and windows are secure
✔️ Give pets a quiet place to rest
✔️ Watch for signs of stress, upset stomach, coughing, limping, or injury
✔️ Make sure ID tags and microchip information are up to date

Cook Veterinary Hospital is closed today, Sunday, July 5, but we will be open Monday. If your pet is having an emergency, please contact a local veterinary emergency hospital.

Wishing you and your pets a calm, cozy Sunday. 💙
