Join us tomorrow, Thurs., May 28, to be among the first to explore the brand-new admissions area, 200 Project sculptures, gift shop, and Longneck café, along with a first look at the future International Center for the Care and Conservation of Giraffe (the Giraffe Center), opening later this summer. Advance timed tickets are required and can be purchased at cmzoo.org. Anytime rideshare tickets are always available at cmzoo.org/rideshare.

The brand-new admissions area has been transformed, with the vehicle road no longer running parallel to guest foot traffic. The area features new Quarters for Conservation (Q4C) kiosks. Every Zoo guest receives three “quarter” tokens representing the 75¢ Q4C allocation from their admission fee. Guests can vote for legacy conservation projects by placing their tokens in the corresponding kiosks.

As part of the Admissions Grand Opening, CMZoo has installed six life-sized giraffe sculptures. This enormous installation, known as ‘The 200 Project,’ celebrates the more-than 200 giraffe calves born at the Zoo in support of the Giraffe Species Survival Plan. These beautifully designed sculptures welcome guests at the Zoo’s entrance as part of the new admissions experience, offering a first glimpse of what’s ahead while celebrating the unique features that make giraffe so special.

As guests wind their way past The 200 Project, they’ll travel through a landscape of native plant and tree species on their way to the new gift shop and Longneck café. Operated by the Zoo’s longtime retail partner, The SSA Group, the gift shop and Longneck café will offer new merchandise, food, and beverage options to help guests kick off a great day at CMZoo.

Guests will also get a first up-close look at the future Giraffe Center, opening later this summer. (Yes, guests can still visit and feed the giraffe every day while construction is completed!) Home to the International Center for the Care and Conservation of Giraffe, established in 2022, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is recognized as a leader in giraffe care, and this new 12,000-square-foot giraffe barn and expanded yard reflects that expertise. The Giraffe Center brings together giraffe professionals from around the world and expands educational programs to improve and enrich the lives of giraffe in human care globally.
