Smile & Wag’s first class at Pinecone Pups starts Tuesday 1/6/2026! There are still a couple spots open and I’d love to see you there.

In Ready, Set, Play students will explore what it means to engage their dog in play that actually feels playful. Healthy social play isn’t automated, one sided, or frenzied. It’s a call and response conversation, a dance of give and take that generates joy.

Together we’ll unlock each dog’s individual play style and preferences, tailor the games to their strengths and interests, and learn how to keep the games, fresh, fun, and socially enriching.

For almost a decade, Emily has been blending canine development, communication, learning theory, behavioral science, and neuroscience to understand how to help humans and dogs thrive together. Six years ago, she moved to Colorado Springs and began working professionally in the dog rescue and training industry. There, she found her true passion - empowering others (and their pups) with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed as a family. Each dog, human, and household presents a unique puzzle with an individual path to success. Emily strives to tailor her services and continuing education to create positive change in the lives of her clients.

Full disclosure, I share food with my dogs at mealtime. While eating dinner… Sitting at the table… oops! That being said, my dogs don’t whine or bark or paw at me. They don’t steal. I can get up and walk away and my food will be there when I get back. There are rules and they are followed. Each house’s rules may look a little different and that’s okay. As long as your rules are kind and reasonable I’m happy to help your whole household get on the same page with the dogs and table manners.

After not feeling well for much longer than I would have liked, I’m easing back into things. This morning I got to spend time doing lots of playing and training with my own dogs. We all needed it! I’m excited to get back to playing and training with client dogs and posting educational content. Stay healthy, give yourself grace, and take time for personal joys!
