What is place/ settle training and why is it important when it comes to dog training? Place or settle trainining is very important when it comes to dog training. Place training can help with a dog who’s overexcited and cannot control their arousal levels. It can help keep your dog out of the way of guests. Or it can help with teaching an “off switch.” This is especially important for those dogs who have a higher drive or lack of impulse control. This is Fynn the 15 week old labrador retriever puppy service dog in training. Here he is learning to carry items. As a reminder, we are a balanced training company. We use tools such as head collars, prongs, and e collars. All tools are used correctly and properly for each dog and their individual needs. All dogs are treated with love and respect while they are in our care in any of our training programs. If you are against tools or balanced training methods, there are plenty of positive reinforcement based trainers out there for you to work with.
