Amanda has been with BBAH for 3.5 years but has been working with animals for the entirety of her life, being a member of 4-H and FFA as a young child. She started working with feral cats as a teenager, trapping them, socializing them and adopting them out to good homes. Amanda served in the US Army, graduated from Bel-Rea Institute of Animal Technology in 2012 and became a Certified Veterinary Technician in 2013. She loves to volunteer and happily spends her free time at Happy Cats Haven in Manitou Springs, and Almost Home Adoptions in Westminster.
With her Army training, Amanda is calm during emergencies and her vast experience with cats give her a good understanding of feline behavior. It is no surprise that Amanda is a proud Cat Mom of several special needs cats. She has two 18-year old cats, Mogwai and Valerie, both who were baby foster failures. Valerie developed Diabetes 2 years ago and Mogwai has kidney disease. Sonia is a foster with Epilepsy who was brought home from Almost Home during the COVID shut down. She also failed the foster system and has become the queen of the house.
Juniper, her youngest, was found in a Juniper bush right outside our hospital most likely abandoned by her stray mom. Happy Tech Week Amanda!
