Hey guys. My heart is breaking for Hondo. This is a dog I spent weeks training and despite him making huge progress, the family has decided to surrender him after spending years in their home. They adopted another dog and they don't get along. Hondo needs a foster. I'm beyond full.
A foster that has no other animals in the home, can follow my training protocol, and is an experienced handler as he is fearful and reactive. Do I have anyone who can hold a Hondo?

This afternoon we spent time working with this young lady. She is an extreme fear case that was completely shut down at her previous adopters. Their lifestyle wasn't a good fit so they surrendered her back to the rescue.
She's currently at one of our fosters and going through rehabilitation training to learn from us that the world isn't so scary.

When you are having trainers come over for a consultation PLEASE be upfront and honest about what is going on. Today we did a consultation where the owners failed to provide critical information that would have been imperative for safety. They didn't convey that one of the dogs has a history of aggression. Our consultation started with being surrounded at the front door and getting bit.
We try our best to know what we are walking into. Had we have known more, we would have implemented safety measures and introduced ourselves differently. As a pet owner. If you know your animal has a history of aggression? You should be implementing safety measures and informing all persons entering your home.
Thankfully we are experienced and quick on our feet. This could have gone very badly.
During consultation, just be completely upfront and honest! What we thought we were walking into wasn't at all what we were walking into. Had we have known. Things would have gone much differently. We would have set everyone up for success instead of putting our trainer, a small puppy, and the owners in harms way.
We literally don't care about exes, rehoming issues, financial hardships. We are there to asses the animals needs and how we can HELP. The more Information we have, the better. Tell us EVERTHING! So we know how to help.

Dakota has been working in the field with me A LOT lately and he's been a complete ROCKSTAR!!!
I've been working with multiple clients on dog reactiveness. Once they get to a certain point they get to meet Dakota. They get to learn that not all dogs are scary. Dakota has been bomb proof for each one! Even when they have a moment? Dakota is cool, calm, and collected.
They snap? He stays calm. They get fussy? He stays calm. A new dog randomly shows up? He stayed calm and showed our client's dog that new interaction is ok. He truly helps other dogs that have been reactive or aggressive in the past learn that you'll have so much more fun if we're all friends. 🥰
Yay for Dakota helping our fur friends recover from past experiences!!!

We've been doing some changes to better communicate with our clients and organize our process. While allowing the cheese lady to get actual time off.
We now have a dedicated phone for business.
Previously all messages went to the same phones and made it difficult for having off times. As we have gotten busier it's becoming more important that we establish strict business hours.
Moving forward you can call or text 719-641-6556.
You can do such at any hours. We will respond during our business hours of 10 am - 7pm Monday- Saturday. We will be closed on Sundays.
We have also decided to NOT use any Ai services.
From our research we have found that our clients information is NOT protected. Safety is always our number one priority. We will continue to be "old school " to protect you and your information.
Thank you for your patience and support while we adjust to our new phone system.

Before you bring an animal into your home RESEARCH. Before you decide to adopt a dog... DO RESEARCH ON THE BREED!!!
Different breeds have been bred for certain characteristics. Even if you are adopting a rescue there is usually a pretty good idea on the breed. Not always but usually. With rescue you should be able to do a meet and ask about them. For first time adopters? Look at the ones they have the most information about. For those of you wanting a couch potato? DON'T get a working breed! You'll get a host of behavior issues. For my super active families? Don't look at lazy breeds! You will be disappointed. For those with small children? Herding breeds are a terrible idea majority of the time. Also teaching children from a small age is important. We help with that as well.

We have always been available to help you pick out your fur friends. If you are interested in adopting and would like help picking out someone that works best with your family? Let us know!!!We can do that. We'll also give you advice to make it successful and a discount on training sessions to help the transition go smoother. You don't have to adopt blindly. You can have support.
