Super small update to my services. Due to a schedule change at work, I will now be booking appointments for Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays. I have made no changes to prices or my areas of coverage. Answers to some commonly asked questions:

Q: Do I need to do anything to prepare for your arrival or have an area set up.
A: Nope. I'll have everything I need and letting your pet fall asleep where they are most comfortable is always best. No need to make them stay on a table or change their routine for the day. We can be in the home, a vehicle, outside or wherever the pet is most relaxed.

Q: Can I feed my pet on the day?
A: Absolutely, that baby can eat whatever it wants today. Within an hour of me coming would be the best time to give any foods that would be considered problematic to a healthy pet (chocolate, grapes, fatty cuts of meat, fried foods, etc).

Q: Do I give my pet its regularly prescribed meds?
A: Yes. Today is all about comfort and peace. Skipping meds can worsen chronic conditions and cause the pet to experience extra discomfort.

Q: Are paw prints extra?
A: Yes and no. The service includes a paw impression with a picture frame and an ink kit that typically yields about 4 paw/nose prints. If you want extra prints or impressions,I will charge a small fee for the extra kits but 1 of each is always included

Q: What aftercare options can I offer?
A: I have a few
1. Private cremation with ashes returned in a hand crafted urn. This is a third party service and they are wonderful. I take your pet and the remains are mailed back to you. ($275)
2. General disposal. The pet is cremated with other pets and the ashes are disposed of in a respectful manner. ($60)
3. Burial boxes for pets up to around 80 pounds. This is included with my base service.
4. Canvas burial bags that can hold pets up to around 180 pounds. This is also included.

Q: What type of payments do I accept?
A: Several. I can take Cash or card at arrival (card payment at arrival does require phone service or wifi) or you can utilize a payment link before my arrival to use cards or digital forms of payment (venmo, PayPal, etc )

A little late on posting but this sweet, sassy boy was an absolute pleasure to know and work with.
His name is Lennon and he recently crossed the rainbow bridge. He's actually the second pet I've worked with for this owner (always an honor to get repeat clients). We'd been in contact about him for several months waiting on him to tell his people it was time. Of course, the cancerous tumors were his demise.
On the day I went, he had all of his favorite people either in the room or on FaceTime to tell him goodbye and make him feel loved. We all couldn't help but get tickled at him when he got his sedation. I was warned he "hates shots", an oh boy, was that an understatement. He threw a whole tantrum and then left the room to pout as he got sleepy. Overall, he left very peacefully and got to be surrounded by love while also giving us all a good, tear filled laugh at his antics.
Rest easy sweet boy, you were so loved. 💕💕

This page is all about saying goodbye and making that process as easy for both pet and owner as possible but today I'm really wanting to try and share a little advice on how we can prolong that decision. Veterinary medicine is my passion and this service is a very small portion of how I spend my career. At the end of the day, I am not a euthanasia specialist. I am a general practitioner that wants a long, healthy life for every pet. What are some small, easy ways to prolong your pet's life in most cases? Let's talk about it.

PREVENTATIVE CARE!!!! Vaccinate puppies and kittens starting at 6 weeks and do the full series, preferably by utilizing veterinary professionals. Parvo is almost 100% preventable by using vaccines and proper caution in public spaces. Get the yearly exam! I can detect so many diseases early by a simple physical exam. Heart disease, arthritis, dental disease, tumors and so many others can be caught and managed early just by getting a good exam and talking with your vet. Yes, we will offer more in depth diagnostics and absolutely want to do them but we understand if all you can do that day is the exam, that's ok. My primary concerns for yearly visits are proper husbandry, appropriate vaccines, parasite prevention and overall quality of life. An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

Weight control is crucial. Food is not love. A proper body condition is arguably one of the most crucial components of managing and controlling most chronic conditions, especially anything involving the joints or heart. Joint degeneration secondary to obesity is the #1 reason I get called out for large breed dogs that are under 10 years old. Pay attention to your pet's body condition and alter food accordingly. I will never recommend free feeding. Always measure and feed on a schedule. It's very easy to get pets trained to a schedule, especially if you start them young. I'm not saying to never give them extra treats or food but let it be just that, a treat occasionally.

Train your dogs. Every dog should know how to walk on a leash and go in a crate. Even dogs that live on a farm or stay in an outdoor enclosure need to be familiar with crates and leashes. These are skills that your dog absolutely needs to be able to get proper vet care or do well in an emergency situation. If you can't control your pet, neither can I and I cannot give high quality care to a pet that nobody can handle. Teach them to tolerate mild grooming procedures and basic restraint. In the wise words of a coworker, don't let your pets be smarter than you.

***I don't know what that person who is definitely a veterinarian is auscultating on that puppy's shoulder in the first picture but the picture sure is cute 😉

This handsome boy was sweet Mr. Max! I had the honor of helping him across the rainbow bridge yesterday in a truly touching moment.

Max was one of the best dogs and clearly so loved by his whole family and anyone that met him. At 16, unfortunately, degenerative joint disease stole his quality of life and his parents made the hard decision to let him go. He fell asleep surrounded by his whole family and even one family member on a video call because she couldn't be there. Each person took extra time to give him affection and tell him how loved he was. He'd spent the day snacking on all the yummy things his people offered him including sausage and ice cream. He was also very happy to take advantage of my Hershey "goodbye kisses" 🥰. He slipped away peacefully (snoring the whole time) while surrounded by all his favorite people. There wasn't a dry eye in the room ...including mine. Rest easy sweet boy, your family loved you so so much 💕

I've had a lot of people cancelling and rescheduling lately with each message including very apologetic phrasing. I want to make it very clear that I will never be upset that you get more time with your baby. I simply appreciate the advanced notice that I'm not needed just yet.
Cancelling an appointment is as simple as deleting the invoice and a pen mark through a slot on my planner. Refunding a paid invoice is just a few mouse clicks.
I actually encourage people to go ahead and make an appointment they think they might need because cancelling is much easier than trying to scramble and be able to get to you at the last minute.

Check out this beautiful, hand crafted urn from Dogwood Pet Legacy.
I helped sweet Winnie over the rainbow bridge a couple weeks ago and they sent me this picture of the urn they received with the framed little toe bean prints. The urns are absolutely stunning ☺️
