With everything happening lately, we want to remind fellow dog owners of something incredibly important:

Please do your homework before choosing a facility to care for your dog.

Whether you’re looking for boarding, training, daycare, or any other pet service, don’t be afraid to ask questions and take a close look at the business you’re trusting with your family member.

Here are a few things we encourage every pet parent to consider:

LICENSES & REGISTRATION
Ask whether the facility has the proper Illinois Department of Agriculture licensing/registration required for its services and whether it is operating in compliance with state requirements.

SEE THE FACILITY FOR YOURSELF
Take a tour! Look around. Is the facility clean and well maintained? Are the dogs comfortable? How does the staff speak to and handle the animals? Sometimes you can learn a lot simply by observing.


STAFF EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
Ask who will actually be caring for your dog and what training they receive. Caring for animals is a huge responsibility, and the people handling your dogs matter.

VACCINATIONS & HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
A responsible facility should have clearly established vaccination and health requirements/ protocols to help protect every dog in their care.
