Friday Night Farm Update:

The horses all fine…they are definitely ready for this to be over, but they are doing well. Farm driveway and parking area is very icy with the melting snow from yesterday re-freezing into lovely ice! The salt I put down hasn’t made a lot of difference, but has helped some. The additional dusting of snow earlier today didn’t really matters! Horton Hwy is clear, but there are icy patches and black ice on bridges. Please be careful out there!

Barn staff is hanging in there, and I can’t thank our boarders and staff enough for pitching in with help, kind words, food, snacks, wine (thank you, Becca!), and understanding of how difficult this time is for the farm!

Friday farm update:

Unfortunately, the ice and snow that melted yesterday froze into all ice last night. I’ve put down all the salt I have around the barn to help melt the ice. Be careful out there!

Horses are all good!

Thursday Evening Farm Update:

We currently have “wintry precipitation”. It’s a wet, mucky mess! Hopefully, no additional accumulation will happen.

Ramon was able to make it to work today, and has scraped a good portion of the driveway and parking area. He does a way better job than I do, so it’s definitely easier to get around the barn now. There are still ice patches and snow, so we’ve had a few slip and slides with the farm staff.

The horses are handing in there. Hopefully, the end is in sight! All in all, they’ve been troopers through all of this!

Thursday Farm Update:

All horses are fine. Horton Hwy is pretty darn clear, but still has icy patches. Barn driveway and parking area are still snow and ice covered.

The weather outlook for today into tomorrow doesn’t look good. They are calling for freezing rain and snow. We will see what happens, but if you plan to head to the barn, I would try to do it before noon today. It looks like the bad weather will start arriving around noon.

Thank you to our boarders who have reached out to us with kind words of thanks, and for the snacks, hot cocoa, and goodies left in the tack room! It means a lot! Thank you!

Farm Update:

Horton Hwy has been scraped again, and I think it has been salted. It was pretty clear this afternoon. Barn driveway and parking area remain snow covered, but I have shoveled a path from the barn to the covered arena (which is frozen like a brick, btw!).

The horses are fine. Some of them are a bit stir crazy, and I don’t blame them!

The weather for tomorrow does not look promising. The weather is calling for freezing rain and snow from 12 pm Thursday through 9 am on Friday. Please stay aware of the weather!

Farm Update #8:

I can’t believe it’s only Tuesday!!! I feel like it’s a Friday based on my level of exhaustion!!! Enough about me, the lowly barn manager, so here is what you all want to know:

All horses are fine! Eating, drinking, and pooping!! So much pooping…don’t ask me or Ashley how many times we took the spreader out today!! 🤣🤣🤣

Horton Hwy is still a mess! Apparently, the county forgot about Horton Hwy and Hwy 96 on this end of the county! Both are still snow covered, so be very careful out there! I guess they have to plow the “high rent” district first! 🤣🤣🤣

I have managed to scrape some of the barn parking lot, and I’ve put down lots of salt! As Ashley said today, “well, you sure are doing more than Williamson County!!!” 🤣🤣🤣

Farm Update #7:

All horses are fine! They are certainly sick of being stuck inside, but they are all eating and drinking normally! Ashley and I will do an afternoon stall pick for all horses at PM feeding.

Horton Hwy is still snow covered. There has not been any scraping or salting by the county, so be careful if you venture out! Barn driveway and parking lot are still covered.
