"My dog would never do that!"
Unfortunately, too many dog owners do not understand the nature of dogs, including their own sweet babies. Dogs are domesticated, but not perfect.
Aussies are a breed that have a natural guarding tendency, which is why they are called shepherds. They don't readily accept unfamiliar dogs into their territory, and some do not accept unfamiliar people. If you need to introduce a new dog to your pack, take it slow. Use a training collar on both dogs. Use leashes for the initial meet, to pull dogs apart if needed. Make sure you are physically ready for the interaction and have another person there to help you. And then give them time. Reward with treats. Make sure you have more than one ball for fetch, give praise and pats frequently so it's a positive experience. And don't feel bad about using the shock part of your training collar if needed.
PS This is a picture of our sweet Lilly 😁. She was actually playing with baby Radon, but she sure looks vicious lol.
