Canine Health Events

Canine Health Events Improving the health and lives of dogs Canine Health Events Inc. CHE is as interested in understanding how to prevent canine diseases as we are in finding cures.

is a diverse gathering of dog lovers from across the continent who are dedicated to improving the lives and health of dogs. Using normal dog events, we seek to raise money for canine health research both through entry fees and additional fund-raisers, such as raffles, auctions and sponsorships. In the future, we intend to fund research into nutrition and vaccine protocols, as well as the more typi

cal cancer or specific disease studies. CHE makes donations through established health foundations with scientific review boards, such as the Morris Animal Foundation, the Canine Health Foundation and the Golden Retriever Foundation, rather than establishing its own grant-review procedures. This enables us to focus our efforts on what we do best--raising money through dog events.

Our dogs may also be our best bet for figuring out how environmental chemicals could impact our health say researchers from North Carolina State University and Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. They found similar levels of toxins in dogs and their owners, including pesticides, flame retardants, and phthalates (found in plastic food packaging and personal care products), and organophosphate esters (found in some flame retardants).

“Dogs are special when it comes to linking exposures and disease outcomes because effects that may take decades to show up in humans can occur in one to two years in a dog.”

Man’s best friend may also be man’s best bet for figuring out how environmental chemicals could impact our health.
