Ranger is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and comes with a Fi GPS tracking collar. Ranger is a handsome, energetic young hound mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Like many hounds, he loves to follow his nose and enjoys exploring the outdoors. His current family deeply loves him, but after much consideration has realized that Ranger would thrive best in a home with significantly more space and freedom to run safely. Ranger currently lives in a senior community where larger fenced areas are not permitted, and he has also struggled to peacefully coexist with the family’s cats due to his strong prey drive. Because of this, his family is committed to finding him a setting better suited to his natural instincts and energy level. Ranger’s ideal home would include acreage or a large securely fenced yard where he can exercise and explore safely. He would likely do best with active adults or families with older teens who are comfortable with larger, energetic dogs. Ranger may enjoy a canine companion with the right introduction, but he cannot live with cats or other small animals. Ranger is smart, affectionate, food-motivated, and eager to engage with people. He has had some training and would benefit from continued work on recall, leash manners, and consistent structure as he matures. Like many young hounds, he can become very focused when he catches an interesting scent, so a secure environment and continued supervision outdoors are important. Ranger’s family wants only the very best for this lovable boy and hopes to find someone experienced with hounds or active working breeds who can provide him with the space, activity, and lifestyle he truly needs to thrive.
