This is a long read but I have to shareā€¦..
Had an incredible birthday weekend at a mounted shooting in Sweetwater Texas and getting to spend it with some LEGENDS Tim and Amber Cowan!!! Iā€™ve had the honor of riding horses for them and currently have a buckskin filly that Iā€™ve had the privilege to start for them and even took her up there so they could visit the little mare and see some of her progress. Iā€™ve met some amazing people in the horse world and these folks set the gold standard!!!! They founded the mounted shooting club The Texas High Plain Drifters and have accomplished outstanding achievements in the mounted shooting world. However, what stands out to me the most was the amazing mentorship they have provided me and the amount of knowledge they have been willing to share with me about shooting,horses and especially life! Iā€™m so grateful God has given me the opportunity to get to meet them! Also, as everyone knows the horse world can be very polarizing and intimidating to say the least. Unfortunately, especially in the sport side of the equine world it can be a very closed world not welcoming to new comers. I can say that with this mounted shooting club I felt so welcomed and everyone was so willing to share what they know and encouraged conversation! It was so relieving and it gave me great confidence to put my foot in the world to eventually compete in this sport!!! Thank you to all the club members, competitors and especially yā€™all Tim & Amber for making me and my family feel so welcomed.
