Akuna has been waiting patiently for her chance for over two years. She’s a 4-year-old pit mix who would do best as the only dog in the home and without cats.

Two years is such a long time for any dog to spend waiting, and we just know there’s so much love to give in this sweet girl. She deserves someone to see her, get to know her, and give her the chance she’s been waiting for. 🤍

Akuna is currently available through Colbert Veterinary Rescue Services.

Meet Izzie, a beautiful 10-year-old German Shepherd with a gentle heart and a story that reminds us just how much our animals can go through. She’s good with both cats and dogs, but after being adopted and surrendered twice, including being left in our parking lot, Izzie has developed some anxiety while at the rescue.

You may notice her holding tightly onto her bowl. It’s one of the little ways her anxiety shows, and a reminder that she’s still learning to feel safe and comfortable after so many changes. She appreciates patience, consistency, and a little extra reassurance.

Izzie also has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency), which means she needs some additional care. But beyond her medical needs and anxious moments, she’s simply a senior girl who deserves gentleness, understanding, and all the comfort in the world.

We’re happy to have you with us, sweet Izzie. ❤️

🚨 SOS. THE MATH ISN’T MATHING. 🚨 😭
There are only so many kennels and cages. There are only so many places to put dogs and cats. And right now, the shelter is beyond full.

Dogs are in crates because there are no kennels for them. Dogs are doubled up in runs. And still, they keep coming through the doors. Strays. More strays. And an unrelenting number of owner surrenders. We know life happens. We know there are situations where people truly have no other choice. There simply isn't somewhere for them to go and so the shelter has to make room for them.

And we know. You’ve heard us say the shelter is full before. We are tired of saying it, and we know you are tired of hearing it. But this time, FULL means dogs in crates. FULL means dogs sharing runs. FULL means there is nowhere to put the next one. And there WILL be a next one. That is the part that keeps us up at night.

There is NO "LIST"!
🐕Every dog that goes home creates a kennel for the next dog coming through the door.
🐕Every dog that goes into foster creates breathing room.
🐕Every dog that leaves for rescue or transport gives another dog more time.

Right now, the shelter desperately needs that breathing room.

New resident alert ‼️
Mr. Clover will be making his way to CVRS later today. While lots of our cats have gone to foster, we still have two very expensive medical cases (2 surgeries needed that will add up to around $5k).

Here is a funds breakdown for intake exams:
$2 covers dewormer
$10 will cover some cans of wet food
$20 will cover his first flea+tick prevention
$50 will cover his combo test
$50 also covers his rabies and first FVRCP vax!
$100 covers his neuter!!

Akuna would do best in a home with dogs but no cats. She is selective about the dogs that she is friends with. What she needs is someone who will give her the time, patience, and love she’s been waiting for.
