Harley continues to impress me with his drive and desire to find ducks. New place this evening, approximately 95 yards across. Duck was placed 25-30 yards from the landing spot.

Lovec and Harley having some duck chase fun last night. Jager is bringing up the back of the pack. He was focused on finding his own duck in the wild rice, until Lovec and Harley broke out in the excitement.

A sequence of 4 videos of Harley during duck search training earlier today. This is a brand new spot for him and the distance across was 70 yards. I train my duck search with a drive to the far shore and then start the search. This makes training for the ultimate goal of the blind retrieve at the NAVHDA Invitational that much easier. Super happy with today’s sequence. Harley will be 18 months on 7/11/2026. Showing a lot of promise. 🤎🤍❤️

To proud not to share. While I was gone to Canada on a fishing trip my good friend (dog training & hunting buddy) Steve ran his Small Munsterlander Hansel in the NAVHDA UT and the two of them earned a Prize 1. They will be training and prepping for the 2027 Invitational. Hansel is the first Lovec progeny to earn a trip to the Invitational! WOOT WOOT for Steve and Hansel.

First kayak swim of the summer. This will be a regular event the balance of the summer as we work on cardio for Lovec’s 2026 Invitational run in late September in New Mexico and general cardio work for the fall hunting season. Being it was the first time out I swam them for 18 minutes.

Another fun morning working and training dogs. Ran Lovec in a brace with a VC GWP owned by my buddy Mike. Both dogs preformed very well. Definitely do not need to bore Lovec with brace work. Lovec is a very cooperative dog and always respects his brace-mate. 1st picture is Lovec on point. Next up was the pup Harley, planted two homing pigeons for him in launchers. Harley hadn’t been on birds in the field since late April. Harley’s focus over the past month or so has been building the duck search. The last two pictures are Harley on point. Two birds, two staunch points, and he let me walk out in front to flush the bird without breaking. Super happy with Harley’s field work today. 🤎🤍

Harley has been training hard over the past 4 weeks on his NAVHDA duck search. Last night at training he really put it together. The duck introduction I did last year when he was a puppy is starting to pay dividends. Harley is living up to his registered name Brush Dale’s All Revved Up. This dog loves the game of search and retrieving a duck. The first 2 videos are from his first fetch command I gave him and the next 2 videos are from him basically giving himself the fetch command, he really wanted to go!! What a fun dog!! You’ll hear me in the first video, I comment that he didn’t have a duck, he proved me wrong (I should have known better). 🤎🤍

Fun weekend helping out to put on a successful SMCA (Small Munsterlander Club of America) regional event at Brush Dale Hunting Preserve and Kennel in Iowa. Our region is made up with Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. We had a number of younger dogs and puppies with many new handlers.

Lovec and I did have a couple of opportunities to squeeze in a little field work in preparing for the 2026 Invitational. We ran a couple of braces with a fellow Small Munsterlander also going to this year’s
Invitational.
