Kitty #5000!
(Pic of him in comments, not nearly as amused as we are about his status ๐Ÿ˜†)
Our backstory:
In 2010, Dr Kim Wilson and LVT Mary Nisbet saw the need for low cost TNVR (trap-neuter/spay-vaccinate-return) services for outdoor cats in our area, and Barn Cat Outreach was born ๐Ÿฑ ๐Ÿฑ ๐Ÿฑ
Volunteering a couple weekends a month to the cause, they quickly realized what a HUGE need there was for these services. For many years, BCO functioned as a mobile, โ€œMASH-styleโ€ clinic, setting up in garages, firehalls, colleges etc. A donated camper was converted into a โ€œneuter scooterโ€ for a few years as well ๐Ÿš During its evolution, BCO became an official 501c3 non-profit in 2013, gained more veterinary and support staff volunteers, then pushed forward to having a brick-and-mortar facility in 2023โ€ฆhere we are! As a side quest, we have been able to find great indoor homes for over 200 friendly kitties as well.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that has gotten us to this point, no matter how big or small your contribution was ๐Ÿ™

*Peanut & Sugar adopted

Just in time for Motherโ€™s Day, we present mama Honey and her sweet babies available for adoption to pet homes ๐Ÿ’ž

Honey and her 3 newborn babies were found by a kind person the night of February 22 just before a big snowstorm. She brought them inside for the night to keep them safe and Honey had a fourth baby! The poor girl was in active labor and desperate for help. Their finder reached out for assistance and theyโ€™ve been in our foster system since ๐Ÿ’ž
This kitty family is incredibly sweet, playful, and healthy and used to cats, dogs, and kids. Honey is a youngster herself, aged at about 9 months.
They are available to indoor homes now and are Feline Leukemia and FIV negative, dewormed, vaccinated, sterilized before adoption, microchipped, and flea/tick treated.
Our convenient online adoption application is here https://form.jotform.com/242665758191164
Adoption fee $100 to help cover their complete vetting
Fostered in Alfred NY
Please share to help us find homes for these precious fluffs!

Contest time!
At our next clinic, we will reach 5000 stray, abandoned and feral cats that have come through our doors for TNVR since our inception in 2010. Weโ€™ve been chipping away at the outdoor feline population on our days off from our regular jobs to get to this amazing milestone and couldnโ€™t do it without all the support from our community and volunteers!
We are taking guesses regarding cat #5000โ€ฆcomment below if you think it will be male or female AND what color it is.
We will announce the winner next weekโ€ฆand you get a free BCO shirt!

Donโ€™t Kit-Nap!

Finding a kitten can be an exciting yet overwhelming experience, and knowing what to do is essential for the kitten's well-being.

Firstly, assess the situation to determine if the kitten is truly abandoned or if the mother is nearby. If the kitten appears healthy and safe, you might wait from a distance to see if the mother returns. However, if the kitten is in immediate danger or looks sick, it's crucial to take action.

Contact a local animal shelter or veterinarian for guidance on the next steps, as they can provide advice on feeding, care, and whether fostering or adoption is needed.
Remember, kittens have specific dietary needs. Providing love and care to a found kitten can be incredibly rewarding, but it's important to ensure you're prepared for the commitment.
