I knew the day I brought you home, you’d break my heart. I just never imagined it would be so soon and so sudden. I’m just shattered 💔
I’m going to keep this account going cause I know I’ll be on it everyday looking at her pics, and thankfully I have 1000’s on my camera roll, so I’ll keep posting… for me. Also to keep in contact with her puppies and families.
La’iku had one of her wild zoomies, it suddenly paralysed her back legs and she was in horrific pain, they couldn’t get her comfortable. After loss of feeling, surgery has to be immediate for a possible 50% success rate. The closest place to perform that kind of surgery quickly was in Bozeman MT…. 6hrs away, making it not even an option with her being at stage 5. Her suffering, was the most AWFUL thing I have ever witnessed in my life and that’s all I’ll say about that. We had no choice but to put her down 💔💔 It all happened so quick with no warning signs.
-IVDD is impossible to breed out of frenchies (and other breeds), 91% carry the gene and will affect at least 50% of all frenchies. There is very little you can do to prevent it but please become familiar with the very early warning signs, and do what you can to keep your frenchie from jumping off furniture, vertical tug of war etc. I know that’s very difficult for most frenchies.
ILYSM La’iku, absolute best dog in every way💔💔💔
