✨️The Real Cost of No-Shows/last minute cancelations to a Small Business ✨
I want to share something honestly, not to shame anyone, but to create awareness.
Being self-employed, if a client doesn’t show up, it’s not just free time — it’s lost income that I can’t get back.
For example:
If the average appointment is $80–$120 and a client doesn’t show, that’s $100 (on average) gone immediately.
If that happens just 2 times a week, that’s around $200 lost weekly.
Over a month, that’s roughly $800.
Over a year, that’s nearly $10,000 in lost income.
That $10,000 isn’t “extra profit.” It goes toward:
• Gas and Propane
• Vehicle & Generator repair and maintenance
• Professional products and tools
• Utilities and business bills
• Insurance
• Ongoing training
• And my personal living costs
Etc.
As a small business owner, I don’t receive sick pay, holiday pay, or a guaranteed salary. My income depends entirely on the appointments booked.
When you book an appointment, that time is reserved just for you. I turn other clients away for that slot. Last-minute cancellations and no-shows mean I usually can’t refill it.
I completely understand that life happens — emergencies, illness, things out of your control. All I kindly ask is for as much notice as possible so I can offer the space to someone else.
Your support, respect, and understanding truly keep this small business running — and allow me to continue doing the job I love while earning my living.
Thank you to my loyal clients who value my time as much as I value yours 🤍
Im looking forward to seeing all of you coming back from my maternity leave 🥰
